I'd say so, but that's not really a bad thing. He's pretty good when he's locked in.

G - "Luka Magic" Doncic | Gabe Vincent
G - Austin "AR15" Reaves | Jordan "The Banshee" Goodwin | "Protein Shake" Milton
F - LeBron "The King" James | Jake "La Rave" LaRavia | Dalton "Knecht 4"
F - Rui "Black Samurai" Hachimura | Jarred "The Vandolorian" Vanderbilt | Maximilian Kleber
C - Deandre "DominAyton" | "Sideshow Jax"son Hayes

My suggestion is to focus on your reunion tour rather than hyping the Lakers. The former is inarguably great but not the latter.

I think paying their way to draft Thiero was a good move no one talks about. Most athletic player in the draft, wing player, good defender. If he develops a solid shot, he and Luka will work well together. Drafted the NCAA leading scorer in Dixon too.

Even with Aytons motor issue, he is a substantial upgrade at the 5 and for a good price. LaRavia is a decent defender and can shoot the 3 ball. Losing DFS was a negative, but I'd still give a B-/C so far.

Lakers have done nothing yet to suggest they still won't be another first round exit/if not play in contender next season, but unfortunately their fan base is full of delusional nuffies who have drunk too much Luka kool aid (hint, he ain't that good and he isn't ever going to get any better)

I was gonna say, going off this thread, DFS instantly became the second coming of Bruce Bowen, Scottie Pippen and Ron Artest after leaving the Lakers

Never in my life seen so much praise for a role player of his caliber. Did people even watch him last season? What is going on here.

Typical realgm. Anyone coming to the lakers is automatic trash, anyone leaving is all nba.

The fact that he said Luka isn’t that good makes him an all time troll. Nothing he says from here on out should be taken seriously.

They downgraded DFS and then signed maybe the 20th best centre in the NBA. Hardly an off season to write home about

If you take my opinion about Luka out of the equation (which is subjective), I don’t think many would disagree that so far in this off season the Lakers have not improved their roster at all to suggest that will be any better/improved on their last few post season exits and OKC and the likes of The Spurs, Nuggets and Rockets have all done moves that bolster them next season.

Having said that, there is still time for the Lakers do try do some moves to improve before next season comes around, I am sure most neutrals fans agree with me that the Lakers current ceiling is probably the 2nd round of the playoffs. Not enough top end talent on your roster as well as the fact that LeBron. Is reportedly unhappy with the front office.

I just don't see where this optimism from the OP and other Lakers fans here is (AT THIS MOMENT OF TIME)

Luka will be top 10 all time when he retires. And that's worst case scenario

You lost Finley Smith, got a bought out Center (who a lottery team didn’t want), and have LeBron James with one foot out the door.

Capped out with no young pieces outside of Rui/Reeves.

It truly and utterly is not a good offseason.

He was the ONLY player who could defend on the Lakers last year. His D on the wing was so crucial that he finished 4th in the NBA in RAPM behind Jokic, SGA, and Giannis. When he was on the floor, the Lakers had a better point differential than everyone in the NBA except for the Thunder. When he was on the bench, the Lakers weren’t even play-in caliber.

It’s OK though because you signed… the worst defensive center in the league? And I’m sure that after LeBron’s defense fell off a cliff at age 40 it’s likely to bounce back at 41. Without a major trade, that defense is going to be absolutely ATROCIOUS next year. You could have a top 5 offense and still miss the playoffs.

I think JJ Reddick is going to have a meltdown at some point in the first half of the season. The defense with Doncic/Ayton is going to cause him to break his clipboard.

I'm genuinely surprised so many Lakers fans are so optimistic about this pairing.
