I can't wait until this Giannis BS is over and done with. Tired of him dominating the Summer with this romcom nonsense.

Clarkson is not a 16 mpg player though. He has averaged less than 24 mpg for a season only once in his entire career.
He'll be in the running for 6MOTY with the Knicks.
No
Come January or February, I'll circle back to this exchange and see where we stand!

If you want to go the 'conspiracy theory' route....Yabusele is a much better complement to Giannis than he is KAT. Yabu can hit the 3 but isn't a great rim protector. Giannis has more an inside game but is a great overall defender.

Who in the world want a hockey lineup for there bench?
KAT should always be playing when Brunson isn't so you have someone to run the offense through. Then you should stagger Mikal and OG as much as your can as well.
I have PTSD with Thibs rotation.
Let Hart and Mitch be early in the qtr subs. They can't put there center on Hart with Mitch in the game because Mitch will murder them on the offensiv glass.
You can run a lot of Smart/Clarkson/Bridges/Yabu/KAT off the bench.
That maintains roughly 5 out with that lineup as.
Brunson/McBride/Hart/OG/Mitch would be my early in qtr first sub lineup.

I mean, I don't hate it on paper but I question the chemistry between those lineups in game situation.

That was one of the biggest issues I had with thibs...he didn't use the regular season to experiment with different lineups to see what worked. So if something didn't work in the playoffs its not time to pivot then to build chemistry.
That is on Mike Brown and the team to build that chemistry with different lineups throughout the season.

Yes that was a big gripe of mine too with Thibs. I would still like to see one of the 2nd year players step up too. One of the reasons adding a Smart or someone like that who demands playing time can hurt their development. I think Kolek will take a big jump in year 2 and brings a true playmaking element we lack. The shooting will get there with him as it did with Deuce once he got more reliable playing time.

Yah, I think Dadiet will get there too. He has the defense and knows how to play off ball. He just needs time.
He dealt with injury too last season. I see the potential there. Just a matter of can he put it all together and how long will it take. We will have 4 inexperienced players with very little actual game time to speak of plus 3 two-way players. Which ones are real NBA players? TBD. Two look promising one shows flashes and the other four have t played yet. Plenty of development to be done.
Dadiet and Huk better show something soon or they'll be off the Island.

That didn't sound like he's all that committed to Milwaukee. Also, it's the first time (in my memory) he ever mentioned NY and that "a lot of people" have tried to convince him to come here.
hmmm...

Dadiet and Huk were never allowed to show anything because Thibs had them Crazy Glued to the bench.

Kidd was probably waiting on Giannis before he really tried to force his way out of Dallas

Smart would have to be aligned with a smaller role...if he is I'm ok with it...if he's thinking he's playing 20 minutes a night then he probably wont be a fit.
And we were relatively healthy last year but we can't just expect that again this year so I will never scoff at more depth.

I think he thinks he is still a 25+ minutes player. Another problem

I don't think he's at that part of his career anymore...he's +30 years old...I think he wants to win...but thats speculation at that is what his agent can clearly articulate to Leon and Co...if he wants guaranteed minutes and a chance for a big role he probably doesn't fit...if he wants a chance to win and stay on the east coast where he has played a majority of his career he can play a role for us.

I'm on the fence with thia because of the unknown in Kolek. It's a Thibs related problem but, I don't wanna dive too deep into that part of it.
The idea of Smart in a limited mentor sorta role makes sense. If Kolek can defend better and score more he is going to be a great option off the the bench. Inexplicably, he wasn't given much opportunity with the bigs club so, had he spent time with Westchester we would know more. He only played like 4-5 games there. Fail.
I would love a more development centric approach but, we are kinda in win now mode. How much time can we spare to develop players who should have gotten more attention last year? Will he make an instant leap this summer? Hard to tell.
I would like a trusted vet to make a finals run with. One who is ok in a limited role but, can help if we need to rely on him for whatever reason. A player who wants to help us win more than help himself get another contract. Is Smart that guy?
Brunson/Kolek/Smart
Deuce/Clarkson/Pac
Mikal/Hart
OG/Yabu/Diawara
KAT/Mitch/Huk
That's a solid rotation with young depth/potential in the pipeline to work with. I think Simmons would be a more versatile bench player who doesn't want the spotlight on him at all. He doesn't fit the trusted vet mentor role though. He's a head case we could always bench if necessary.
Whoever would take the role described is who I want. Give Kolek room to grow and a goal of possibly being the backup full time. Have a player who can help him or replace him if needed. Tall order for such short pockets.
