The thing i don't like about Barrett is his propensity to try to score himself, almost as if there is no other option available to him. He puts everything on his own shoulders and ignores his teammates.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions - Rollins 3/$12 million, Turner Signs
If I'm trading Kuzma now, it's more for an expiring overpaid player who'll we'll just flip at the deadline anyway, instead of some half-assed attempt at a core player upgrade. I'll kick the tires on what Kuz & his defense + rebounding tools are like w/ a full offseason otherwise & pick my spot.
I'd really like the Smart/Champagnie idea, if we can get a 3rd team who'd want Kuz+, as the Wiz already had their fill. Champagnie's a youngish 3+d+r wing. We really need rebounding from our wings if we're going to have Turner replace Bobby in these lineups.

I’m down for signing Barrett on a 1 year vet minimum deal when the Raptors buy him out if we don’t get Beal, CP3, or Bones lol

Its weird with Barrett that its not just his raw numbers going up but he's also been more efficient since he got to Toronto (although his FT shooting has been weirdly really bad). I don't watch enough, or really any Raptors games (when they're not playing the Bucks) to know one way or another. But I'm open to the idea that something clicked for him when he left the Knicks and has become a better player.

It's only a disaster if we throw away the 2031 1st or 2032 pick swap. Otherwise I see absolutely no downside to taking a flier on Barrett. Toss them Andre and that fake, Top-55 protected 2nd we still have. Easy.

Maybe something like;
MKE: Ellis, Champagnie, Smart
SAC: Kuz, Tyler Smith (TPE), AJJ (TPE or route him to a another team)
WAS: Derozan
Not sure with picks what would be what. But fairly confident SAC would get on board with Derozan<>Kuz part (but maybe not the Ellis inclusion). No idea what picks would need to go where though.

Thats the problem though...we have nothing else anyone wants other than AJ Green.
The only way we are getting Barrett is if Toronto views him how the Blazers viewed Simons.
1. Not worth his contract
2. Dont want to re sign him
3. Are not getting offers for anything beyond either a late 1st or Salary relief but not both.
Honestly, in terms of overall value, its a pretty fair comp. Anfernee is a much better shooter but is far worse defensively and doesn't get as many boards or assists. They are each making about 27M this year but Barrett has one more year at 29.
Bball index has their 24-25 season as being very similar in overall value.
The Bucks could provide salary relief of about 5M this year and 9m next year by trading them Kuzma.
I would do it.

So just to recap the cap situation..
We are 21M under the tax somehow, no trade threatens going over the tax.
We can take back the following total salary given the players included:
Kuzma: 28m
Kuzma/Andre: 30.75
Kuzma/Andre/Smith: 33.19
Substitute Green or change combos however but the numbers dont change much.
Given the Andre news, im assuming one of our targets is on this list.

It's an easy 3 way deal. Kings have always wanted Kuzma, and can't afford the larger contract of Barret. Toronto had wanted Monk for awhile. We have room for Barrets contract. Small pieces can be exchanged, but don't need to be.
I'd like 2 way contract player Ulrich Comche thrown in. Interesting project.

Yes well, the problem with that idea is that no one wants to take on an extra year of Kuzma for an expiring contract no matter how much that expiring is overpaid. So that will cost something. There's no reason for us to do that unless it means trading that more expensive player for an even more expensive player that is somehow both good but not good enough that it requires the asset that we used to trade Kuzma

Barrett to Milwaukee.
Kuzma to Kings.
Monk + a minimum guy from Kings to Raptors.
Toronto drops $6.4M salary per year for a guy they've supposedly tried to acquire in the past.
Bucks keep our firsts we're eating salary as main value proposition.

It appears as though you're using a simplified application of Article VII Section 6(j)(1)(iv)(z): "one hundred twenty-five percent (125%) of the aggregated pre-trade Salaries of the Traded Player(s), plus $250,000." Note that there are other aspects of Article VII Section 6(j)(1)(iv).
Reposting from a previous post:
DingusBojangles wrote:That's a general simplification. If you look at Article VII Section 6(j)(1)(iv) of the CBA, the reality is a bit more complex. There are three different numbers that get calculated, and then which one applies is dependent on how they compare to each other.
The three numbers:
1) Article VII Section 6(j)(1)(iv)(y)(A): two hundred percent (200%) of the aggregated pre-trade Salaries of the Traded Player(s), plus $250,000.
2) Article VII Section 6(j)(1)(iv)(y)(B): one hundred percent (100%) of the aggregated pre-trade Salaries of the Traded Player(s), plus an amount equal to $7.5 million multiplied by a fraction, the numerator of which is the Salary Cap for the then-current Salary Cap Year and the denominator of which is the Salary Cap for the 2023-24 Salary Cap Year.
3) Article VII Section 6(j)(1)(iv)(z): one hundred twenty-five percent (125%) of the aggregated pre-trade Salaries of the Traded Player(s), plus $250,000.
Then, you determine Article VII Section 6(j)(1)(iv)(y) as the lesser of Article VII Section 6(j)(1)(iv)(y)(A) and Article VII Section 6(j)(1)(iv)(y)(B). From there, you determine Article VII Section 6(j)(1)(iv) as the greater of Article VII Section 6(j)(1)(iv)(y) and Article VII Section 6(j)(1)(iv)(z).
In a trade that sends out just Kuzma (from an outgoing salary perspective), the relevant number actually ends up being Article VII Section 6(j)(1)(iv)(y)(B), based on his $22,410,605.00 cap number (per Spotrac), resulting in an Article VII Section 6(j)(1)(iv) number of $30,937,615.54.

The guy has talent and youth. But I think he short circuits his value when he puts his head down and tries to do too much on his own. His assist numbers were up last year on a bad Toronto team - possibly because of the system Rajaković uses. I felt like he shared the ball more as the season went on, which is ironic because he sat out a lot of games in the second half of the schedule.

Monk's contract runs a year longer than RJ's while also not being as good as RJ. I see no reason for Toronto to take this and no easy way (without any 1sts) for Milwaukee to turn Kuz into RJ.

There's probably a personal evaluation that has to come into it too. Like do they have any communications, trusted people who know him or work with him, have coached him before, etc to know if some of those tendencies are things he's set on it or if its been more a product of his teams/roles. Basically, whats his attitude about embracing playing off Giannis as opposed to waiting for his turn to go solo. If you think he has a good attitude and team mindset he can probably take another leap with Giannis. There's a logic too now that he has the big contract in his pocket already he doesn't have to worry about his ppgz to get paid.
