I’m pretty happy about this.
Never viewed Mermuys as anything special. Time will tell.

Prunty and Shammgod in meant at least one guy was gone.

has it been announced by orlando PR that we've hired Prunty and Sham? wording of that tweet makes it sound better for Mermuys vs being let go and then hired.

yeah looks like it was announced and good for Mermuys landing on his feet in PHX, enjoy that mess
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

Thank the Lord, I can't believe this guy was the lead assistant!!! This off season has been really good. Hopefully they can stay healthy and try make a leap offensive.

"Best known for guard development" ... "Served as lead assistant-offensive coordinator" ... "Offense first"

Yeah, he got replaced. Glad he landed on his feet.

Is this a promotion for him?

It’s seriously feels like Weltman, Hammond, and AP spent a lot of time reading through our criticisms here

From my understanding, Hammond was actually a realgm user back in his Milwaukee days IIRC.

To answer my own question, this doesn't seem like a promotion but a lateral move.

I don’t recall the Magic ever making official announcements on assistants. Not when there is no fired/hired head coach announcement.

It’ll be ‘official’ when the media guide comes out end of September.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have AI or pay someone to have AI scan the forums for actual coherent thought.

Poor offense -> coaching shakeup -> Mermuys edged out

Not a straight firing as he could have slid down the bench or moved to the back row, but he stands as the main sacrificial lamb for our poor offense last season.

Mermuys and KCP are the clearest losers of the win-now switch.

I have no idea if he was a good coach or not, but never got the impression he was. When he did the halftime interview, I always thought he was very cringe. And I think he went 0-5 as a summer league coach. Good luck....

Hoping this is an addition-by-subtraction situation… Mermuys’ career has been pretty underwhelming.

I liked him. He seemed very knowledgeable. He just didn't look the part.

Offensive coach for the worst offensive team in the league but was "highly sought after"

Hmmm.

Lionel Chalmers probably next to go. He and Shamgod both Player Development coaches.
