Best players of their draft class are ALWAYS getting the rookie max extension. That's the price to pay for them being the best at their age and also because they are young enough to improve. It was obvious from day one that Banchero/Chet/JDub were gonna sign max extensions. Jabari signed $122 million after having only one "good" season because of talent/recent improvement. Cade Cunningham signed a max extension based 90% on talent alone before breaking out last season. Not a single GM could have avoided not to give a max contract to a DPOY kind of player like Chet (not even Kizz the new boss in San Antonio)

Truth. I would have handed Chet his max and would have been happy to do so. Presti should get no complaints about this move. Based on what I've read it does not include language to potentially bump to 30% if Chet were to qualify for it which makes it a perfect contract extension by Presti.

I’m surprised you won’t trade Chet as spurs if you already have wemby .

Twig city in overdrive .

I like Kornet as the IH for SA. I don't even want to know what Presti would do if someone called and inquired about Chet. Laugh? Slam the phone down? Set a starting negotiation point of 17 FRPs? Wemby, Kornet and Olynyk work together with any two of them on the court together. They can go smaller with any of them at center with Barnes at PF. Lots of options for matching OKC's size and when JDub is at PF putting that midget in his place. Still need to move Sochan to a team that believes in him on his rookie contract. He's just not a good fit, similar to Giddey in OKC, he's not a bad player just clogs up the interior with his lack of spacing. If Castle can shoot 35%+ from 3 then watch out. Really need to step up that sales pitch to CP3. Fox, Castle, CP3, Harper, Vassell, Johnson and Champagne as the 1-3 with Barnes and Bryant as combo forwards then Olynyk, Wemby and Kornet as the bigs. Get me Al Horford as another big man and they'll be ready to make noise in the playoffs.

Instead of CP3 pull off a miracle trade of Sochan and Keldon Johnson for Derick White. Let Boston get younger and save some tax money.

I can neither confirm or deny that I was contracted to submit a full off-season plan to SA. I also can not confirm or deny if anything I submitted to any team as contract labor in assisting with developing an off-season plan has or has not happened.

JDub extension done. Yes, it has the possibility to be 30% if he meets the requirements.

Presti did a wonderful job. I'm not talking about the extensions because those were no brainers (well I hoped we could have saved 5% with JDub but he deserved it) but the overall former extensions that is allowing to sign those guys for long term deals without much concern. Next offseason gonna be tricky but so far so good.

I see a few potential outcomes for next off-season based on how this season ends. Let's assume we all get happy happy joy joy feelings and the team goes back-to-back. They could decide to just keep the bulk of the band together, meaning SGA, Dort, JDub, Chet, IH, Caruso and Cason plus most significant role players and just go into the 2nd apron for a year at a chance for a threepeat. I'm going to pretend that is a realistic scenario for now, because I have no proof to the contrary. I can also hope there are some egos in the ownership group that would like to show that a small market team can achieve that rare feat.

I don't think winning the championship is gonna impact what Presti will do next offseason. He will keep thinking long term. I think next season key factors that will impact the offseason are: 1) health; 2) Sorber development; 3) Cason development and asking price on his next contract. I think if Cason has a good season and isn't asking for too much money, Caruso is gone. it might be Dort gone and not Caruso but I still think Presti likes Dort too much. Then the Sorber development gonna impact Hartenstein future in OKC even if it would be crazy to go let Hartenstein walk while Sorber is a sophomore.

I would bet a decent amount of money that Caruso will be traded next offseason.

He's gone. You don't even give him a QO next off-season.

As long as I'm getting rid of players, Erik Reynolds II is cut from Summer League and banned from any future contract with anything related to OKC. Did anyone else see him make a bucket in the wrong end of the court and score for the Nets off the jump ball?
