With the up to 5% the total they can use without incurring draft capital penalty is $13,795,005. The keep getting linked to LaViolette but as history shows us. They'll likely take an under slot at 20 and load up on prep arms. Kiley linked them today to Charles Davalan, Brady Ebel, Coy James and Ethan Rogers (though maybe he meant Ethan Moore here? Rogers is just outside the top 250 in most publications). This draft is deep with prep infielders and not much gap in talent from #25 to #75.

If they are going arms early go big and bring in fast movers. But history shows us they are going outfield again specifically CF.

They draft up the middle early. Thats why I am thinking they may target one of the prep SS's

20. Brewers — Caden Bodine, C, Coastal Carolina
Bodine has been one of the buzzier names in recent weeks. In the last mock, I mentioned the Brewers were tied to both of the top catchers available: Bodine and Luke Stevenson. I went with Stevenson then, but as the draft gets closer, it feels like the industry expects Bodine to go quicker because of his contact skills and receiving. Steele Hall, Xavier Neyens, Gavin Fien, Marek Houston and Jace LaViolette are other names who could fit here.

Have consistently seen the Brewers linked with catchers: Luke Stevenson (24) and Caden Bodine {29). They could definitely use some depth in the system. Still, I'd be a little surprised.

Other guys mentioned here:

14 - Marek Houston (SS)
15 - Steele Hall (SS)
17 - Jace LaViolette (OF)
31 - Gavin Fien (3B)

Hall sounds the most like a Brewers kind of pick. Extremely young, elite athlete, up the middle defender.

I would also be shocked if they went college catcher. Bodine had a great year and showed well in the CWS does he actually have the arm to be a full time catcher? I am not so sure. Stevenson is the much better defender, and actually has power, but has huge holes in his swing. After those two though the crop falls off significantly.

Only a matter of time before he starts popping up on top 100 lists.

Theres some teams out there that would take the Nashville starting 5 over their MLB starting 5. Insane depth we have with SP. On the offensive side I could see Jared Oliva take a spot or Ethan Murrray. Both would require a DFA somewhere.

You’re putting a lot of stock in one guy who isn’t an MLB quality starter, one guy who’s never thrown an MLB pitch, and another guy who pitched his way out of MLB.

BA's last mock.

20. Brewers — Caden Bodine, C, Coastal Carolina
Why He’s The Pick: Bodine is gaining helium as we approach the draft because there’s not much to pick apart with his profile beyond power. There’s a real chance he doesn’t get to the Brewers now, but I still think they’re one of the likelier landing spots for him on draft day.

What They Are Getting: Bodine has some of the best bat-to-ball skills in the 2025 class. He’s also a polished defensive catcher who is viewed as one of the best receivers in the country. His lone question mark is centered entirely on how much power he will have.

Other Names We’re Hearing: Jace LaViolette, OF, Texas A&M; Marek Houston, SS, Wake Forest; Xavier Neyens, 3B, Mount Vernon (Wash.) HS; Luke Stevenson, C, North Carolina; Steele Hall, SS, Hewitt-Trussville (Ala.) HS; Gavin Fien, 3B, Great Oak HS, Temecula, Calif.

Dart Throw Names For Later Rounds: Cam Leiter, RHP, Florida State; Noah Yoder, RHP, Atlee HS, Mechanicsville, Va.; Trey Meyers , OF, New Trier HS, Winnetka, Ill.; Caedmon Parker, RHP, TCU; Dylan Watts, RHP, Auburn

I worry about Bodine's ability to throw out runners at the professional level. He's a "safe" pick if he's the guy IMO.
