What does Amari Williams defense look like? The big knock on him is slow plodding feet on defense that may limit his defensive upside, so showing some nimbleness would make me a lot more confident he'll help this year.

I'm not too concerned about that with Amari. Might be somewhat of an issue but as this video touches on (around the 18:20 mark), he defended Cooper Flagg on 4-5 possessions when Kentucky played against Duke, including 1 play late in the game during crunch time - Flagg didn't score on any of them.

Also, he's more of a drop coverage big, so having the quickness/nimbleness to defend out on the perimeter shouldn't be too much of an issue if he's just playing drop. Some of the better defensive bigs in the league are drop bigs (Gobert, Zubac, Mitchell Robinson, etc.).

Please Rewind‬:

Alex Caruso had an alltimer a few yrs ago: "“A big reason guys get stuck in the G-League is because they don’t realize the position they’re trying out for. It’s like going to a job interview thinking you’re going to be the CFO of the company, and they’re looking for someone to clean the bathrooms.”

With that in mind here are a few things I'm looking for from the Celtics summer league:

Hugo Gonzalez - off-ball impact
Baylor Scheierman - rebounding
Jordan Walsh - guarding "up"

My prediction for our rotation tomorrow:

C Amari Williams
PF Miles Norris
SF Jordan Walsh
SG Hugo Gonzalez
PG Baylor Scheierman

Bench: Lofton, Wong, Shulga, Kendall Brown, Jalen Bridges

That's 10 legit ballers. At least for summer league standards. Good team.

I figure it'll be hard for other guys (outside of these 10) to crack the rotation. Most teams don't even go 10 deep (even in summer league) so 1 of these guys might be the odd man out.

Ben Gregg might be the 11th man who gets some mins here and there, if we need another big to throw in there..

Don't they usually sit guys (esp several of your starters) so everyone gets to play a little at least? Would suck going there and not getting in a game.

I'm heading to the coast with family tomorrow thru Mon - talk about horrible timing! I gotta remember to setup recording of these things tonight.

Joan Beringer 11 pts (5-6 shooting), 8 rebounds, 2 steals, 7 blocks in 23 minutes. Looks like the rim protection is going to translate fairly quickly.

I really like Beringer, but I'd have to watch the highlights on the 5-6 "shooting". I'd wager they were dunks or put-backs near the rim. Dude has (had?) such a raw shooting touch.

Edit: Ok I watched. That's a lot of blocks! even though the Pelicans were serving them up and apparently didn't read the draft analysis on Joan.

Mon dieu! I think the NBA just found the French Timelord, Seigneur du Temps!

I just meant for the first game tomorrow. Over the course of the 5 games, the end of bench guys always get to play a little bit..but usually the last few guys at the end of the bench don't play much. It depends how much we sit certain guys out - like last year we shut down Springer after 1 game. Queta and JD sat out some games. Year before Banton missed a couple games with an injury, which allows other guys to play..

I'm hoping to see Hayden Gray pick up some minutes so he can get his 5 spg in.

Same. I hope he makes the team. He is my sleeper. Very low key pick up by Brad.

I'm excited to see Hugo, Baylor, Shulga and Lofton. Amari as well. I'm hoping Walsh plays well.

I just need to remind myself and others that I don't expect any one player to have great numbers because this is a loaded SL team.
Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised with one or two of other guys has a big game. If Lofton gets 25 minutes in any one of these games, he is going for 20 points.
