He tried to squeeze everybody for "multiples FRPs" with all his vets and ended up waiving Clarkson, trading Sexton for Nurkic, and trading Collins for Slo-Mo and a second rounder. Sometimes you have to strike when the iron is Greater Than 17 Wins.
Didn't help that he used the 10th overall on the guy who looked like the most overmatched player in the league last year.
I see Ainge as a "thunder struck twice" GM version of Doc. If Kevin McHale doesn't gift Kevin Garnett to hia former team, they don't win that championship (and Doc is golfing with MJ for the next 15 years), and then if Billy King doesn't give up what everyone immediately knew was the most franchise-crippling individual haul ever, then does anybody even remember Danny Ainge as anybody but the guy who led the Celtics to a bottom two record but still missing on Greg Oden and Kevin Durant?

Guessing this is why a lot of NBA owners are getting out of the game. 72 mil a year for Booker is wild.
If this move is applauded at all it's because they're locking up the hometown guy. But what's the point of locking up your hometown guy if the people cheering for the team he's on will have nothing to cheer for other than a franchise guaranteed to lose a whole lot of games? It's like the guy who's worried that his prom date said 'yes' too soon and may be looking elsewhere so he books a seat at the best table at the best restaurant well in advance, even though it's clear he's going to stand out because he doesn't belong...Or maybe Gogol's overcoat is a better metaphor.
This isn't extending a guy like Curry or Giannis. Phoenix just has no patience in making a smart move.

With the new cap rules and limits one has to wonder if eventually "max" will actually be reserved for the handful of guys who actually deserve it. Rather than how its been for 20 years of max goes to anyone who's all star level 'because you have no choice'. You can't build a team paying this much for 2nd-3rd tier stars. In addition, with these rules very few teams are going to regularly have cap space to poach them from you with their 'max offers'. so wonder if a middle ground will start to happen where the bookers and Jaylen Browns of the world take a notch below max. LIke if the new world is 70ish as the max, if those type guys start taking 55ish. And the 70 is left for Jokic/Giannis types only
Resident Lillard truther since 2015.

Wizards roster is now at 18 guys. Seems very likely 1 or 2 of Khris, Smart, or CJ get bought out

He's one of the best defensive players in the league and he's a very smart, versatile offensive player with plenty of room to grow. He's a no brainer rookie max guy any team would love to have.
The idea that he would be on bust on a different team is laughable. He'd very likely be flourishing offensively on a different team because he would have been given more freedom to expand that aspect of his game.

Chet is good on defense, but to me he is just a taller version of Gobert....but over hyped because he is in the perfect situation and there is a certain group of people who will love Chet due to his nationality/race.
He is very awkward on offense. If Chet develops that game more and stays healthy he could possibly become worth that contract. He is young and I get the potential.

between them giving away next year's pick and now this, kinda seems like the Pelicans are not going to be selling Herb or Trey any time soon.

not really. extension doesn't start until three years from now and he only makes around 14 the next two seasons each.

Happen to be at this chic place for dinner with the lady, and Flagg doesn't seem overly impressive. This is real time scouting. And with only three glasses of Goose.

It's worse that he's one of those dorks who wears a t-shirt under their jersey. Pet peeve.soxperry wrote:CharityStripe34 wrote:Happen to be at this chic place for dinner with the lady, and Flagg doesn't seem overly impressive. This is real time scouting. And with only three glasses of Goose.

Some guy named Maxime Raynaud looks incredible for the Kings. Based on one summer league game. Bronny-esque.
Kings new GM is being interviewed and his selling point is that “our team will have an identity.”

Flagg hitting Js over people and running and dunking in transition is pretty impressive to me

Generally agree, but I thought Eric Gordon at Indiana was the coolest and he rocked an under-tee.

John Henson killed any good will t-shirt under jersey people had built up.

Seems fine to me. Removes the vets and gives the young guys a chance to show if they’re a long term keeper or not. This is what I’d want the bucks doing if we traded Giannis.
