Re: Official Brandon Ingram Thread
Ingram started his career taking almost no 3s (about a couple a game) over his first 3 years, then his next 2 years, he shot over 6 per game. Then there was a 3 year stretch when it dropped back down to 3-4 a game and then last year it shot back up to 6. Since his 4th year, he's hit 3s in the mid to high 30s range except for a season. We are going to need him on the higher end of 3pt attempts.

I’m not going to do the whole homer ra-ra for Raptors medical staff. Not going to go all red shoe string.
But I am going to remind how absolutely awful, cheap, and lacking the Pelicans organization is for those “extras.”
BI gonna be an all-star this season and have a career year. It’s going to be awesome.
Pelicans literally did not have a physiotherapist on staff until 2 years ago.
Ingram is so good. I don't think New Orleans had the right roster to really maximize his abilities. I'm very excited to see him play for the Raptors.

With Ingram, I'm from Missouri - show me! - I think he's soft but I'm happy to be proven wrong.

5 or 6 sounds about right, especially if he's north of 37%. If he can be kind of efficient without going to the basket too much, it might help him stay a little healthier. And it would certainly help open the interior for other action, like RJ slashing and CMB and what-not.

I'm definitely expecting more 3PA and less drives and hopefully less reliance on the midrange as well. His FTA have been trending down and combine that with the injuries, probably unlikely he's a 5+ FTA anymore. It makes keeping someone like RJ probably more important because we really don't have anyone else on the roster that can provide consistent rim pressure.

Mid-range, he probably keeps, I'd expect. It's his core skillset.
But yeah, with Quick and BI, and maybe some improvement from some of Shead/Walter/Gradey, we should have at least a little more room for RJ to do his thing.

He's still going to take them for sure, but I just don't want the drives to be replaced with all midrange jumpers. That would make it incredibly difficult to be efficient out there.

Odds are, he won't be north of league-average efficiency anyway. Better to temper our expectations early (and even that would be pretty nice at volume, to be honest). But he's not a durable guy, nor a lucky one, so him going all the way to the rim probably isn't going to be the best play.

I wouldn't be surprised if they ask him to shoot more 3's than that. I keep wondering if they will try to convince him to adjust his game a little. Make it more simple. Less off balance shots. Get him to focus on health & career longevity at this point.
I watched a ton of BI footage after we acquired him & some of his footwork is pretty crazy, Very high risk. Especially his fade away jumpers over defenders. Awkward one foot landings with defenders crowding his space.

And that same crowding of the shooters landing space has been aggressively (almost overly so) been officiated away. I don't see this as a issue.

I hope they don't turn him into one of those ultra-volume guys who have no consistency, to be honest. It isn't ideal for anything but end-season overall efficiency. Focusing on 5 or 6 per game, transition and his mid-range game? That makes plenty of sense, though.

Not even.
Clearly a significantly better playmaker, clearly a more capable mid-range scorer, clearly a dramatically superior shooter.
Like, Rudy doesn't really come close.
