I feel the opposite. I don't see the on ball creation that some folks see in him. I think he's a 3&D player through and through.

Re: Summer League Thread
5/21 for Flagg. Ouch. He’s got supreme confidence out there though I just feel he has IT.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

To me, his potential is:
3+D (but not elite on D)
auxiliary play making ability (a #4-5 with starters, #2-3 with bench)
some off-ball cutting/shooting

It is a dumb trade regardless of how Queen turns out because Atlanta would have almost certainly done the trade with top 6 protection(for example) on the pick. Whether Queen becomes an all-star or the pick somehow ends up late lottery, it was an unnecessary overpayment and risk. I am really rooting for the Pels to get away with the stupidity but that won’t mean it wasn’t stupidity.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….

I think it’s too much expectation to assume someone going to be too good for the summer league.
SL simply add to the sample size of data.
It’s fun to watch. We hope to see glimpses of success.
But at the end of the end it does not matters much
What you do after summer league is much more important.
Let’s say you have a bad summer league , do you lose confidence? do you double up the effort the rest of summer? If you have a strong summer league , do you rest on your laurels the rest of the summer or you keep working ? How did he take coach’s criticism or counsel ? Do someone make connections with fellow youngster both on and off the court is often more important compare to the actual performance.
Some people says that SL does not tell you if you can play in the NBA but will tell you who can’t. I think I disagree with this statement.
SL doesn’t tell much both ways.
The more positive data we can but on the sample size the better but at the end of the day SL is an insignificant sample size.
I am very excited to see both Ja’Kobe and CMB.

Walter has already flashed enough of an in between game that he'll be more than just 3 and D. He can create his own shots and get to the foul line, he just wasn't strong enough to absorb contact yet.

Not a great day for the rookies. The bar has been set pretty low for CMB. lol.

Maybe if you think of the old 3&D guys but the modern day ones can self create a bit but it doesn't mean they aren't 3&D players. I'm going to have to see a massive improvements in his handles for me to believe in that upside. Maybe added strength will help with that.

i cant believe walter is 12 pounds better than he was last season, it will lead to at least 12 more points, and 12 more in the win column

He is very similar to RJ in that regard. He keeps his dribble alive in the paint like RJ which is very noticeable compared to Gradey or Barnes for example.
