Dias or Diaw?
if Diaw he is Diaw without a 3 point shot...which is pretty big flaw in todays NBA.Hopefully he improves on it.I wouldnt bet much on it though.

Diaw didn’t have his first league average three point shooting season until his 6th NBA season when he was 26 years old though.

Time is on Penda’s side. His shot doesn’t appear broken either.

maybe beacuse he came to the league before 3 point craze
he wasnt good at it from the start because there was no need or pressure?
Im just a bit traumatized
where did we hear it before?
lets draft an athlete he will learn to how shoot.

Im just saying if you see him as Diaw then I agree but atm he is either an early days Diaw or he is a Diaw without a 3 point shot atm.Im not arguing.

I'll be honest, he might shoot 20% from 3 next year but if he goes out and gives that effort, with that level of defense and secondary playmaking, Penda is going to get on the court for us.

He's plays so damn hard, is physical, switchy, and he may not have shot it well last night but he still shot it everytime it swung to him and did not hesitate.

I just think in terms of all the mid to late first/seconds Weltman has taken a swing on Pendas skillset is probably the most intriguing for me.

ok grammer police.. The S is close to the W.. Diaw did not have a 3 point shot for most of his career and is a career 33% 3pt shooter on 1.3 attempts. First 3 years he shot in 22% from 3.

Both rookies were as advertised. I like what I saw. Jase was the efficient low mistake guard who can shoot and finish at the rim. I remember the first layup he nearly made and got clobbered.... No foul was called. Penda is a brute.... Big body that likes to make decision on the court.... Shooting a still a work in progress and plays like a free safety on defense which is a good thing.... But could be bad because players will have to rotate off of his decisions I do hope that he drops 10 lb before the season starts.... He's a big boy.

He wasn’t awful. His shooting was bad but everything else was good. I remember saying summer league doesn’t fit his style of play.

Yea I certainly agree from my perspective but was mostly referring to the vast majority of people’s posts at the time. He really shot the ball poorly. I am still salty about Franz because I loved that pick from day 1. Most people on this board wanted Bouknight or Moody. Everyone was brutal at the time and during summer league everyone went nuts. Now everyone wants to pretend like none of that happened.
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

Being strong is underrated in the nba. Even smaller guys like Lowry, Chris Paul and Van Vleet benefited a lot.
Penda will be also able to guard 3-4 propably which is another rare trait. It could be the difference between him and TDS who is more skilled but doesnt have enough core strength.
Nice gamble with Penda i must say.He also seems bright and confident.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

I'm not the biggest fan of the Penda pick but I will admit, he is the type of player OKC would draft, get him working with Chip Engelland for a few years, and turn him into an elite 3&D player that opponents would hate to play against. Let's see if our development team can do that for Penda.

Highlights were fun to watch. Reynaud was amazing, but Jase showed me enough to not get too mad at passing on him. It's so nice to FINALLY have a PG who has a good handle and body coordination. Nice to have a guy who is a baller rather than a raw athlete.

One knock on Jase is that he got a lot of his passes deflected. I think that could be corrected after he adjusts to NBA length.

Penda gets blown by on defense. That could be corrected with his positioning. He follows the ball on defense and doesn't stay with his man.

PrimeThyme wrote:Jase is going to shock some people this year that type cast him as the typical one dimensional ineffecient defensive sieve small guard.

He's not that. Jase, as you saw tonight, is a legit 3 level scorer that can use his length to finish with contact at the basket. It's that skill I see being so valuable at the next level and makes his ceiling, to me, much higher then people realize.

Jase Richardson is not in any shape or form the same type of player as Cole Anthony as a basketball player.

He's far better.

Yes, he will be better than Cole. Jase has big minute potential, his wingspan really helps his lack of height.
