I agree. Should have played more somewhere. We just stuck him to the bench. I agree with Polk that he needs to muscle up as well. Part of the discussion is who do we sign with the vet mini. We have plenty of bigs and SGs. We have two PGs and Deuce who is basically an under sized SG. Clarkson can play some point I suppose but, not a fan of the idea. So getting a limited role PG who Kolek can take the job from might not be a bad idea.

I agree we don't really need a guard. JB, Deuce, Clarkson, Bridges, Kolek, McCullar and Hart are all technically guards. We need a wing/PF for depth.

If it is for potential rotation minutes my picks are Boucher, Lyles, McDermott or Bol Bol. Vets for mentorship and locker room would be Markieff Morris, Crowder, PJ Tucker or Horford.

IMO we keep that spot open and see what needs develop during the season. I am of the opinion that we need another rim protector if we can grab one. Moses Brown who should be called Teflon because he can't stick anywhere is a logical one. Pacers last year got Thomas Bryant off the scrap heap and one could argue they don't make the finals without him.

We have Mitch, Hakporti and Nnaji should get a 2 way. All 3 are rim protectors. We can always just sign someone and deal with it at the deadline if we need someone else.

Porti and Nnaji both are VERY unproven. Ari has about 200 total minutes last season. There has to be a Zeller or a Plumlee out there who have a pedigree of soaking up playing time. Not saying it's an imminent need, but I don't know how much wiggle room we have in our cap and I don't want to waste a 3M vet min on a player and then find out I need an actual NBA player who can be 7 feet tall.

Hakporti showed enough during his time imo. We shouldn't have to see Nnaji unless disaster hits really. I mean we got through seasons at a top level with Jericho Sims starting multiple games. We should be fine.

We had Hartenstein though who was a traveled back up by then. Last season was a problem.

Was it really though? We managed to still win 51 games and make it to the ECF

We can only wait until two weeks into the season. Then we have to be at 14. We can't afford 15 being up against the 2nd apron.

Can we afford a 5 year end of bench vet and still have room for a 15th later?

We have enough for a vet mini and a rookie 2rp mini. Most likely Diawara. 6'9 PF we drafted. That puts us at 14 and not much money left at all. Not enough for another player. I'm pretty sure we will be right at the apron at 14 players.

I really think Micic could be the distributor off the bench that we need.

Yeah. When the dust clears we will see. Top of my head it's close but, I think they will have wiggle room. I just didn't do the math because that's a way off situation

One thing I don't have to focus on too much is the Knicks FO is how they operate in the margins to maximize the cap situation. Who they decide to give that money to and whether they can contribute in a way that impacts the team is another thing, but the managing of the cap isn't a concern anymore....well, that is until Aller is gone.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right

Simmons
Smart
CP3
RWB

Shamet

That's the Begley list. We have rumored interest in the first two and speculative interest in the the latter two. Shamet is also a possibility to return.

Take your pick. A case can be made for anyone.
