Spoke to someone connected yesterday. All I have to share is

"The player(s) you think should be moved, will be moved" The only reason I post is because the guy is connected and I trust him.

But...i still take it with a grain of salt nonetheless.

As I read this back to myself. It really provides little info other than encouragement that Kuzma will be moved.

Kuzma/AJJ for RJ Barrett confirmed.

So Giannis for Harrison Barnes and the Spurs 2183 1st confirmed?

The (s) is throwing me.

Giannis (and) Kuzma maybe? Spurs might put lotto protection on that 1st if we add Kuzma.

Appreciate you sharing! No shade if it doesn't come to pass either.

The "Kuzma appreciation thread" here will be something to behold if it does go down.

I am sure ESPN will run this clip of Doc talking about Giannis playing point guard this coming season.

Spotrac says the Raptors are over the tax by ~ $5M if I understand correctly, or what's the deal?

https://www.spotrac.com/nba/toronto-raptors/tax

A Kuzma trade (he could head elsewhere too!) allowing them to shave ~ $6M could be that much more desirable if that's all it takes for them to duck the tax entirely.

Doc also said in that clip he thinks both AJ Green and GTJ will have breakout years for us.

This team is high on the kids it’s not just a realgm dot com thing.

Crap. I did forget to mention it was for a significant player. I was drinking and it was during a golf tournament I was playing in.

I actually mentioned RJ Barrett and he just said "He didn't name names".

I fear they're going to do the panicky all-in trade now to appease Giannis, & the timing for it is terrible, while it will empty out the gun. Horst in trades is scary, and not in a good way. This isn't free agency anymore.

While I don’t disagree with the main point here, especially fear in trading future picks, lets say we move Kuz and picks for a good wing… nothing is empty as fast forward to the deadline and Bobby, KPJr, and Green would (IMO) all hold trade value.

And if things go too terribly, the nuclear option is to trade GA and Turner and we’d be looking at more picks than we’ve ever had.

I think I saw Shams report if the Bucks wanted to get off Kuzmas contract it would like cost the 2031 1st and Giannis.

We need a 2nd option. Can't split moves into 2 separate ones and get that. Also, Kuz' contract wouldn't dilute the trade, it'd add if he reverts to career norms at least and we could give a team apron relief at the deadline. In addition, I don't want to trade KPJ as a needed creator.

Well that's comforting...

Do we potentially have a new Buckpack?

Can somebody please post the bat symbol for us all? It will be for good luck!

Ha well now we can get into day drinking semantics of what a significant player would entail.

Kuminga seems more significant to me than Barrett but they both qualify.

Quickley would as well.

Malik Monk significant-ish? Idk if he'd qualify (at least I hope not).

Anfernee Simons could be a possibility too:

“I have talked to other teams that have said the Celtics are actively trying to trade Anfernee Simons,” Windhorst said on the “Hoops Collective” podcast. “Whether they can or not is another [thing].”

Oh when I see "significant" my mind immediately goes to Demar DeRozan. I hate that I think it's a legit possibility.

Including Green in a Wiggins trade is absolutely vile IMO.

Why?

I'm not one of the "AJ is untouchable" folks, but AJ's skillset is perfect to be a starter for us IMO. Wiggins and Kuzma are both probably negative value on their contracts. If Miami wants to cut costs by making that sort of swap, I'd be willing to pitch in some of our young fodder or a 2nd round pick or something but I'm not providing any legitimate assets to take Wiggins. If that isn't enough to get him/other teams are willing to offer more, they can be my guest.

TLDR: I simply don't have much interest in Wiggins and I would say AJ Green is comfortably a more valuable asset than him, mostly by default because I don't think Wiggins is an asset.

As long as it’s just Kuzma and Jackson Jr, we could do worse than Derozan.

People tend to say this a lot and I'm never convinced it's actually true.

Yeah I'm not going to argue he should be playing a ton of minutes or anything, but the list of players that you can sign for the minimum that will hit 40% of their 3's and play passable defense is an extremely short list. Prince is pretty good value given the contract he's on; the issue for us is that we were forced to play him more than a team with aspirations should.
