GA might have to do more on offense this year, but he’ll have to do less on D with Turner in place of Brook and removing the worst defender from the roster (Dame).

They’ll also still load manage him since they kept Bobby to do his whole give you 75%-90% of GA’s scoring and rebounding when GA is out thing, which has always been Bobby’s biggest value to the team.

I’m ok with it. I think we learned the last two years that Giannis does not want to play center. He wants to play PG. he loves that. So let’s give it to him since he’s our best option there.

Does it wear him down over the years? Maybe, maybe not. But I want this team to win 50 and top four seed. I’m not concerned about where Giannis body is come 2028 when he might want to be in Houston.

Yes. His MPG might go up a bit at PG but that's less of a beating that fewer MPG at the 5.

Giannis played 67 games last year, I'd be fine with him at the 65 minimum this year. As a fan is ticks me off when he sits but I get it.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Bern, our future gets reloaded if/when Giannis is dealt. At this point tossing a 2031 or 2032 on the fire won’t matter, especially if we get a meaningful SG/SF.

Meaningful is the key there. Some of us don’t view DD or RJB as meaningful since they probably kill the offensive spacing and slow the pace.

That means they are eating multiple extra loses before the deadline with Kuz starting instead of AJG or GTJ or a real SF.

Assuming we’re sending out Kuzma and Andre, we can take back 33.159M back.

Non 4/5’s that make more than Kuzma, and less than that mark:

Quickley
Jrue
Grant
Poole
Herro
Dejounte
McCollum
Jalen Johnson
Wiggins
White
Barrett
Simons
Vassell
Rozier
Tobias
Murphy
FVV
Miles Bridges
Mikal
Demar
Jaden mcdaniels
Hunter

PP, you don't want him to join the Achilles Army though. Because that would sink the franchise.

But I want Giannis to stay here long-term & contend, which are mutually inclusive. If you trade the last remaining assets for merely an upgrade (I don't even think Barrett is), & not a 2nd option, contention isn't happening unless maybe the volatile KPJ is a big hit. Got to get this move right.

IQ is a well above league average three point shooter, seemed to be a very good defender, and plays with pace. Do it.

Then play three guard alignments and just live with GTJ/AJG playing most of the SF minutes. If any wings are roasting them, use GA to cover that player late in the game.

Kinda curious about Herro, White, Vassell, and Mikal as names that haven’t really been publicly on the block, haven’t been talked about much here, and would qualify, at various levels, as significant.

We just watched two much younger superstars blow out their Achilles these playoffs and we're "fine" with having the guy who's had perpetual knee and calf soreness for the majority of his career rack up career high mileage in what could be a lost season anyways? Your priorities and mine are a lot different.

I trust the Bucks training staff on GA. They had him sit out with the calf season before last. They’ll also still somehow got him right for the 21 finals.

Derozan and Keon Ellis
Derozans contract is only partially guaranteed at 10mil next year, meaning we could take him and draft capital and turn that package into something pretty interesting, and get Ellis who would be a steal

Fox makes 700k too much for us to be able to trade for him even if we include all of our tradable players. (Kuzma/Green/Smith/Andre).

But

If we could make a pre trade to take on some salary and then flip it to San Antonio, we probably have enough considering how much San Antonio would love to have 31/32 bucks picks in a potential Giannis trade.

Fox also cannot hit 3s so... Idk. But thats a big pop move.

Unfortunately, the timeline is much longer than i had hoped and provides no clue as to how long this will take.

I guess I don't see Giannis doing more of the moves that led to those injuries by him bringing up the ball. I really don't think there will be much of a change besides Giannis getting the ball before the half court line. Once we are in the half court setup, it will be the same and dont think his role on d will change that much.

Like if you are concerned about an ACL or foul trouble from going back to freight train mode, fine. But I don't think Tatum, Hali and Dame blowing their Achilles due to a back step move as a reason to stop playing Giannis. At that point, just wrap him up in bubble wrap and keep him glued to the bench until we trade him.

Giannis also only played 2,289 minutes last year compared to highs around 2,850. Let's not act like there isn't room to adding minutes without "racking up career high mileage". Him playing 36 min (an extra 2 min per game) would still keep him under 2,400 min assuming he still plays about 67 games for a buffer on the 65-min.

The last time Giannis played as many minutes as each of the last two seasons under Doc was when he was 23-years old. Doc played him more than 37 MPG in March of 2024 and (surprise), he missed the entire playoffs with a calf/Achilles injury (thankfully not a tear). He similarly ran 33-34 year old Dame into the ground by playing him 35-36 minutes a night and it sure as hell looks like that was a factor in him being severely hurt in both his playoff series here.

I'm just saying. "Not worrying about it" doesn't make it not a thing. Firing Doc is just as much about protecting the Franchise as it is about winning games because those two things are directly connected. Doc's going to absolutely squeeze the lemon dry to get those 45-wins this season, and we all just gotta pray that the wear and tear on Giannis' body doesn't result in the worst case scenario.

Even the more respected media sources like Zach Lowe are assuming the Bucks are desperate for backcourt help and will obviously take any of the veteran fossils spurned by fancier markets.

But with Doc emphasizing KPJ’s coming leap as well as his and Giannis’ ability to play PG, maybe not.

82 games is a very long time to get by with only 3 real ball handlers.

Doc says, "Nobody is pressuring Giannis."

They will. They will bring their 9th-11th guy in and have him hound Giannis and flop if he brings the ball up every time.
Amos Barshad: "So you got a job, a place to live, a license? What’s left?"

Giannis: “Nothing. Just get a ring now.”
