I’m sorry that and the fact that they didn’t reach out to LeBron to extend hin beyond this season, they are spitting in the face of an all time GOAT who brought them back to relevancy.

Absolutely gutted for LeBron. He deserves more in his finals years.

Give me a break.

They don't owe him **** anymore. They did him a solid by drafting his son and listened to him when it came to building the roster over the last 8 years.

Completely agreed - Lebron is going out BAD. A bitter, touchy old man who is going to want the red carpet rolled out wherever he goes

Trading James to Cavs is complicated. Not even sure he has value to convince Cavs to do it.

He’d comfortably be the best player on the Cavs. The trade mechanisms are complicated as there are no significant cap space teams to work with either.

Mitchell is a much better player than him at this stage of their careers.

It is tiresome.

He should have called it quits after he passed Kareem.

I thought there were reports that Lebron and Luka were informed? Anyway word is Savannah wants him to retire after either this season or next season anyway. Hope he stays but if he feels he has to go then so be it.

It makes sense for the Lakers to prioritize the younger star over the older star, just like how they did with Shaq and Kobe.

This doesn’t mean anything. They can pivot, that makes sense. That doesn’t mean they couldn’t have informed LeBron and his camp too. That has nothing to do with prioritization and everything to do with respect.

I think they informed Luka before LeBron, but in any case, a player doesn’t need to be told ahead of time before ownership changes, especially when that player doesn’t fit into the ownership’s long term plans.

Just business. Yeah, it's a bit dirty to not make any mention of pertinent details on the greater team level but not all that surprising. It's clear the team is moving on else they wouldn't have made the trade for Doncic. And seeing James has a no trade clause, he gets to somewhat leave on his terms.

But... that all said...

Not true.

And even if it was true - which it isn’t - why would Cavs send out young players required for James massive salary just to get a James rental.

Never seen any player this butthurt with just about anything. Lakers gave him everything he wanted - traded everyone for AD, signed Westbrick, drafted Bronny, and now his fragile ego is hurt because they didn't tell him? This guy probably thinks he's a literal KING. lmao

Is Lebron complaining about this? That’s just speculation.

I’m pretty sure if they told Luka they told LeBron…

Because why would the lakers show their 26/27 year old guard that’s probably only gonna play good ball till he is 32 that they will marginalize him as he ages even if he wins a ring… ?

Seems like a lie

Telling LeBron and Luka around the same time seems reasonable

If Luka is thinking about his options of who he should sign with, how they treat LeBron will tell him how loyal the franchise will be to him

its an equal partnership if not more weighted towards the org
lakers are bigger than james and he need to be in los angeles more than they needed him,,,,,,or his son

lakers wanted relevance again, lebron wanted relevance in the entertainment industry. as an accommodating superstar org, the lakers were EXACTLY what lebron needed, entertainment and post career aside,,,they bent to his desires for his son.

lebron is living in the past if he thinks he's owed, so he should retire and live in his past. he's no longer relevant as a +/- player

The Lakers do profit hugely on LeBron’s name. I don’t think they hate his presence, but it’s not uncomfortable enough to end the relationship.

whelp,,,windhorst doesn't mention anything per se BUT, one can easily surmise that for someone like lebron he would think he's EARNED the right to be in on everything, whether he has say or not. this is after all,,,lebron

AND THERE'S THIS .... https://www.sportingnews.com/ca/nba/los-angeles-lakers/news/lebron-james-feels-lakers-lacked-nuance-luka-doncic-transition/29a66f94abecde3f52d2602a

lack of nuance????... it's pretty easy to speculate what nonsense THAT means too

Luckily we have new owners who are actually rich and dont have to pander to marketing gimmicks.
