Way too soon for 2026 to take that crown, but off the top of my head 2007, and 2008 had a downright nasty top 5. 2012 was also goood with AD, Beal, and Lillard, 2018 with Luka, Trae, and JJJ.
At this point last season people where calling the 2025 draft the best since Lebron's draft.

Just looking at the 7 years after 2003. Having 1 HOF level player and 1 all star level player in the top 5 is good for any class. It is probably too early to say that much about 2026 as top prospects have down years every year.
2005: Bogut, MWilliams, DWilliams, Paul, Felton
2007: Oden, KD, Horford, Conley, Jeff Green
2008: Rose, Beasley, Mayo, Westbrook, Love
2009: Griffin, Thabeet, Harden, Evans, Rubio
Edit: I realize you are talking about 2026 and not 2025.

Im talking about them as prospects. 2018 is a good challenge, im not seeing 2012 as Lillard didnt even go top 5. 08 only had Rose as a top tier prospect, though 07 is definitely in contention.
Next years draft has 4 guys who, if they were in this years class, would be talked about as contenders with Flagg for the number 1 pick. A lot can change throughout the season, but it is absolutely a special draft class.

They said that this draft. Instead it was Flagg as consensus #1 then everyone else.
Let the kids play a college game first before making grandiose predictions.

Flagg came in as the runaway number 1 and there wasnt another prospect that was as highly regarded unlike this years draft. Harper did eventually run away with 2nd and looked great, but there was no real consensus on who was actually a great prospect before the season besides Flagg. This draft was more renowned for it's depth.
All of Boozer, Dybantsa,Peterson and Ament wouldve been considered in the same tier as Flagg a year ago. Like i said, a lot can change during the season. Im talking about them as prospects entering college. This is a nasty top of the draft next year

I had people arguing with me on this board saying how we had our point guard of the future

Summer league is only good for seeing a players skillset, how he moves, athleticism, etc... anyone who brings up Summer league boxscores is an automatic ignore for me.

They are playing hard and digging in, you can tell everyone is buying into a defensive play right now.

2025 wasn't top 1 heavy draft. This draft will produce the best three combination of players since LBJ/Wade/Melo:
Cooper
CMB
Alijah Martin

Maluach looks like the same guy he was at Duke. He looked lost defensively. Being out position and being able to recovers, works at the college level, but NBA players are going to eat him alive.
That plus the lack of athleticism really stick out to me.
