Eliminate the fans. All they do is complain.

Make the 24 seconds start when a player gets the ball out of bounce after a basket. At the same time start the 8 second count

I'm surprised that this got the highest Votes:
(Reform Shooter Initiated Fouls – to be Offensive Fouls.)

Followed by.
(Eliminate Back-to-Backs.) & (Decrease the number of Regular Season Games Played.)

There are some other good ideas, and I'm sure that more will develop, as things in the NBA change.

Very simple, amount of regular season games is fine but it needs to be condensed
Starting a playoff series in June is ridiculous
How many fans lose interest?
Play Series to eliminate travel and less days off can be obtained

Far as playoffs, first round should be best of 3 all 3 games played at higher seed
Second round best of 5 with a 2 1 2 format
Conference Finals and Finals best of 7
Playoffs have become stale, with Teams quitting on games knowing there are many chances still to advance
Make for a better competition and more competitive

In game, eliminate corner 3 , move back 3 point line
Running clock except for fouls and timeouts
I would look into a 30 second shot clock to possibly eliminate teams launching 3’s at will

Interesting.
I think that the NBA court size should be decreased.

The larger the court, the less smarts and more athletic reliant the game is.
It will also make the players take less thress.

I'd like to see some changes for the Fringe Players.
Particularly around the Draft, Summer League, Training Camp, Affiliates, & overall G League Connection.

We're supposed to be Developing a bona fide Minor League.
With that in mind.:
__________________________________________________________________

1) Move the Draft further away from the NBA Finals. Maybe even Before the Finals.
2) Allow NBA Teams to carry 25-Player in the Offseason Rosters.

3) Summer League =
* A) Strengthen the SL Contracts.
* B) Allow for more SL Training Camp time.
* C) Initiate a Sanctioned 2nd Mini-Camp, Late August to Early September.
* D) Allowing Vets to attend said 2nd Mini-Camp.

4) Affiliate Players = (Adjust the whole concept):
** A) Increase Bonus to like $300K;
** B) Increase number of Affiliates.
** C) Strengthen the Contract relationships.
** D) Allow Affiliate Teams 1st Refusal and/or to Increase Contract.

5) Two-Way Players =
*** A) Increase to 5 x Two-Ways per Team.
*** B) Strengthen and Increase Contracts & Union-Relationships.
*** C) Reform the Waiving Rules.
*** D) Increase Eligibility.

6) Revamp the Minor League connection (G League):
**** A) Allow for multiple Affiliate Teams. (Alike MLB)
**** B) Increase Contracts & Union-Relationships.
**** C) Strength G League Draft.
**** D) Improve how Players are added to G League Teams.

7) Add a 3rd Round to the NBA Draft, for Two-Ways.

I would decrease the regular season games to 72 (3 games within the conference, 2 games between conferences). I would also start the season 10 days earlier. You would completely eliminate back-to-backs this way.

I would start the season with 14 games against teams in the same conference: no east-west road trip. At the end of the 14th game, where each team has played once against every team in its conference, the conference leaders would play the NBA cup (or the top 2 a final-4, whatever).

From that moment on, every team will play every other team twice. Those games would also be the first 2 games of a best-of-9 series in case those teams face each other in the post season. No more meaningless regular season games.

1. 3PTA allotment. At tip, a team has a certain number of 3 point attempts to use, say 40. After you've taken 40 3PTA, every FGA, no matter the court location, counts as a 2PTA

2. The difference between a supermax and a max doesn't count against the cap. If C's draft Jayson Tatum and he qualifies for a $60 million max by winning awards like All-NBA, MVP, DPOY etc and a max for a player that doesn't win awards is $45 million. JT gets his full $60 million but the salary only counts $45 million on the cap.

Your number 2 is exactly the thing I would like, too. The original purpose of the supermax was to help teams keep their own top guys instead of all the stars wanting to go to Miami and LA. Good idea in theory, but practically, if you drafted and developed your own guys and they qualify for the supermax, you're basically **** after a couple of years.

Add performance based salary components that sit outside the salary cap, especially if the player is still on the team that drafted them. It is ridiculous that teams are unable to to keep good players together because of how punitive the luxury tax and apron system has become.

So lower the percentage of the cap for max contract slots and add additional salary that doesn’t count towards the cap for All NBA team selections, All Star spots etc.

You could even add bonuses for playoff games, statistical achievements etc.

I would also like to see something like a reduction in the cap hit once a player reaches ten years on the same team. For example, some percentage of Tatums contract doesn’t count towards the cap in two years time as long as he stays on the Celtics.

Another idea could be that players lose home team bonuses if they are traded, which in theory might stop players signing a big contract then asking to be traded 12 months later.

1) Replace the referees with an open source AI algorithm and sensors.....
2) Widen the court and keep the corner three, but it's the same distance as the above-the-break shot.
3) Make the regular season games more important somehow.....reducing the season to ~60 games is fine, but I like re-seeding every round, and letting the top seeds select their opponent in order until all eligible teams are selected.
4) Fix the rules to get rid of foul-baiting.
5) Adjust the CBA so teams get a reduced cap hit or even subsidy for players they drafted, so there's more emphasis on drafting and developing players.

This whole Offseason/Preseason Roster Thingamajig is out of whack.
For one thing, Two-Ways shouldn't count against the Roster limit. Same as it doesn't in some other Sports.

The NBA Rules are too constraining.
Preseason Roster Limits in other Pro Sports, compared to their Regular Season Limits, are as follows.:

Sport | Offs'n | Regular
NFL ---- 90 ---- 53
MLB --- 40 ---- 25
NHL --- 50 ---- 23
MLS --- 30 ---- 20
WNBA- 18 ---- 12
NBA --- 21 ---- 18

1. NBA Cup groupings shpuld be the divisions. Gives purpose to divisions, less confusing to viewers, and reinforces division rivalries.

2. Get rid of play-in tournament. It's just silly when you got an 82-game season to determine seedings.

3. Limit team's ability to claim off waivers to 1. It's ridiculous when big market teams can add multiple quality players on very little cost.
