I mean we just can’t, right?

Of course not, that would be ridiculous. Peterson wouldn't do that to us.

We’re all wringing their hands about Ace Baileys shot selection and maturity but we absolutely love when Tidjanes pulling the trigger on his 28 footers and doing too small taunts in summer league :)

My biggest concern for the season is our lack of a starter-level center. I’m still holding out hope that there’s something we’re exploring.

Unless they’ve got a big surprise deal under construction, that won’t get finalized until (as always) right at our deadline, they will let him go….cause they have to thanks to their earlier decisions. I don’t see any team coveting Okogie at this point. Teams rosters are either full, filling up, or openings have a ton of young prospects from SL available.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

At vet min he's more valuable to the roster than Mason Plumlee. Maybe not Dinwiddie.

Kalkbrenner will be in GB.

So we gonna see a bunch of Plumlee this season instead of Okogie + center upgrade?

It's a huge failure.

I'd take Okogie over several players currently occupying roster spots:

Salaün
Plumlee
Green
Connaughton
NSJ

Looks like Jeff couldnt strike a consolidation. Good thing he acted quickly on Plumlee. I'm sure he wouldn't still be floating around out there without a home or anything like that (sarcasm).

Here's an extended clip. They talk about the Hornets the entire 10 minutes.

it's the same criticism I've had about the team ever since Melo showed up.

I'm not saying go out and max the cap on random vets just for the sake of it, but it is malpractice to have half a roster full of fringe NBA talent. Just put some veterans in there who can steady the team when things get rocky or dudes get hurt.

I think they've finally done some of that by adding guys like Dinwiddie and Connoughton but I also think they've done irreparable damage to Melo's growth and health by telling him to go gun with no structure and running him into the ground.

It's possible to add vets and have a competent roster without leveraging the future. It's also possible to blow an entire season away and have your reward be Kon.

The odds are the odds

This was a good listen.

100% agree with BD we have no direction. Every year it's the same question who's gonna help LaMelo and can he stay healthy to even make a run at a play in spot. We lack talent as a franchise. When you go out and select Kon with the #4 pick when he was nowhere near the BPA this is what sets you back even more. A young team who already lacks talent and you screwing up draft picks because you trying to push high character.

High character when your 2 best players Melo/Bridges aren't exactly great character pieces. It makes Jeff look like he's clueless. Then he's trading young pieces like PJ and Mark for picks. These picks aren't turning into productive players. Salaun/Kon like cmon man what are we doing here?

*Also good to see PG compliment Charlotte as a living destination. He actually said he could see himself living in Charlotte, but he wouldn't sign here because the franchise has been so bad forever. He said Charlotte is a place players go to kill their career OUCH!

It's never been about the city of Charlotte. Players like the city, hell Allen Iverson lives here after he retired from basketball. It's the fact we are never good and we a super irrelevant to elite level players.

I disagree about having no direction. For once, I feel like this team is attempting to build an identity. They want young, tough players that are serious about the game of basketball who are interested in a team approach. All the moves have been made in that vein. Everything this year has been done to complement Melo and Miller (our 2 best players - skill and future).

Historically yes, this team has lacked direction. However, people are combining the Jordan years with our current ownership. This current group has made savvy moves and acquired assets. They’re not going for the quick fix. Right, wrong, or indifferent that’s the direction.

I didn’t take that as a callout of Jeff more an indictment of the previous regime. Though I get you’re not really willing to go all in with a guy who’s not proven to stay healthy.

I sometimes think people underestimate just what a barebones inept trainwreck **** the new owners and new front office inherited. That is not something that can be undone in 18 months.

Do you think Lamelo is serious about the game of basketball?

Is Bridges someone that has high character?

Trading for picks mean nothing if you aren't using them to make the team better.

Our draft is looking shaky with Salaun/Kon picks.

You have a lot of confidence. I still have a lot of questions...
