What would be different about the waived salary he’d receive if the buyout was before that?

According to Smitty, the payment to the player is also stretched not just the cap hit, so this stretches less money for Beal.

Probably helps on taxes as well if it’s AZ vs CA. Beal is definitely taking a pay cut from his original two years remaining if it’s not the full MLE from the Clips.

No idea if this is a complete coincidence but the trade exception the Jazz got in the John Collins trade is for exactly 26.6M... what would the Jazz get to absorb Rozier?

why would miami want to pay to dump rozier? tehy are not in the tax

According to Spotrac they are 1.3M over, but I think they want to trade him for a useful rotation player now that they got Powell.

Yup. This is my take as well. Essentially gives Beal a large payout of $13ish million (minus escrow, taxes, agent fees, etc) and then allows the rest of his year plus remaining to be stretched (as cash payments in waivings and buyouts are automatically stretched if more than one year remains).

Lebron getting traded is just noise to get his name in the news cycle, right? Like, he didn't get to do his will he won't he thing with his contract this year.

Either way... It's fun.

I like the idea of him staying in LA with Luka, but that's moreso about Luka's legacy and taking that next step more than anything since I'm not sure the synergy or supporting cast is there to win at the ultimate level. Still, those guys together for a full season would be fun basketball.

Him going back to Cleveland is probably the most fun storyline. Even at his age, I think him, Mitchell, Mobley and whatever pieces they keep (whether Garland is there or not) make them the clear favorite to come out of the East. And I think they need him as much as he needs them, as they just don't seem like they have that it factor to put them over the top.

My second favorite would be him somehow ending up in Dallas with Kyrie, AD and Flagg, with Nico somehow Mr Magoo-ing his way into just an elite team that goes for it for the next few years and then rebuilds around Flagg when those contracts run out.

And then there's the idea of Steph and Lebron finishing things out together as the GOATs of the previous era giving it one last go against these young guys.

So..

Kuzma to CLT
Grant Williams and a vet min (NSJ?) to Boston
Simons and Niang (into roomLE) Milwaukee

Grant Williams injury makes this a win for CLT right? Not a great fit, but a talent upgrade..

Boston gets under the tax. Well within a million of it* pretty easy to move off the last bit mid season.

Milwaukee gets a talent upgrade.

I think Mil has to add to get to turn Kuzma into expirings. The guy is just bad

Yeah, there needs to be some value added there for sure. Just didn’t know what. As usual, it’s not worth tying up the distant first. But it probably costs something I agree.

Though here, Grant Williams is not a positive either though.. And Simons/Niang seems to be a negative value package as well.. So value is probably really minor?

Agree with that. Bucks get better players and get off Kuzma 2years.

Anthony Davis, Caleb Martin, Brandon WIlliams to Chi
Coby White, Zach Collins, Kevin Huerter, Javon Carter to Dallas

What picks make it balanced?

well the exact amount gonna depend on how much the salary cap will increase..projection is that Chet could earn about 250 millions but it doesn't change anything since it's gonna be 25% of the cap.

i will repeat that Williams is a positive for Charlotte, he was a great vocal leader preinjury. We like him.

It can't, actually makes it more likely a mishearing or mistype.

5/205 is exactly 25% with no raises.

Escalators typically mean team or performance related bonuses for players. Like making 500k for for a finals appearance. Chet likely still getting raises.

JDub unlikely to see the full value of his contract unless he checks all the boxes.

B.Portis+Bucks31+Swap32 for A.Reaves?

The Bucks get Giannis a near all-start level player in his prime...

Lakers get what projects as premium future assets and a decent player on a decent contract, who's a better fit...while getting into the race to land B. Beal when he's bought out.. thoughts?

Reaves is expiring, so I dont think it works. Maybe there is a player on a longer deal that could, though. I wonder if Trey Murphy could be an option? Would need more salaries.

Why would Trey Murphy be an option for anything Bucks could offer? Especially when factoring in their no incentive to tank? Or are you just thinking 'Dumars so dumb Gm lolz'?
