Another music event tonight, so catching the recording to give my 2 cents:

Sixers came out the gate playing thug ball. Nothing but muggings and assaults, designed to throw off Hornets pretty ball. Glad it didn’t cost CLT the win, as it wore them down in the 2nd half. Unlimited fouls plus the many not called. Ridiculous. BUT, it showed this Hornets SL bunch took the punches and toughed it out.

Noteable players: KJ was special again, a speedy grinder, made some big shots, good leadership. McNeeley continues to impress, despite having a rougher shooting night. Does so many things well. Tiddy always gives us a number of farts per game, but kudos to him for taking charge in Q4. His handle has really improved, along with his footwork on offense. Defensively he’s still a liability, also didn’t box out well. But the kid has made progress. MJ Walker was a sniper. He and Sims made a big difference tonight. Kalkbean had his moments, gave us some defense with those 4 blocks (seemed like he had more), and didn’t back down from the bulk beatings they were delivering to him. Still like what he can bring us from the bench, but gotta have a real starting 5 Jeffie. No change on Sion IMO…destined for the Swarm.

Tough it out V for the good guys!
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

tiddy Is the ultimate wild card as a player. He's like Charlie in the episode of Sunny in Philadelphia where he keeps yelling wild card randomly and doing crazy ****. I don't know any coach that can Truly comfortable with him on the floor. You know each game he's good for three or 4 plays that just make absolutely no sense, and you never know when they're coming and you never know how bad the result will be.

And I'm not sure what his elite off ball skill is that you can put him on the floor next to 4 starters and feel comfortable in his role. His best skills is just putting his head down like a wild deer caught in a school bus and getting to the rim, Yet no coach is ever calling that play for him in the normal flow of a game.

Hopefully he keeps adding to his game over the next two years. He won't be completely unplayable next year but certainly not someone I would trust yet.

I'd argue the only out of the box good thing they ever did was target Kawhi Leonard in the draft, then they traded him for crap

Everything else was pure luck

lmao this is cope, be for real

They would be one of the worst organizations over the past 25 years had they not won Duncan and Wemby (and now Harper), prove me wrong

coming back to this juicy nugget dropped by Coolio earlier today... :o

I think maybe two things can be true in this situation

1. The Spurs have had unbelievably good luck over the past 40 years in the draft. Their draft fortunes have to be top three of all time. Landing the number one pick three times all three times when generational big men were available - David Robinson, tim Duncan, and Wemby... And then moving up into the top four the past two years. For a team that has barely been in the lottery over the past 40 years this is pretty incredible.

2. At the same time, I think it's fair to say the Spurs have been an incredibly well run organization on top of their good luck. They've had the best coach in the league for 20 plus years and one of the best front offices. They were scouting international players better than anyone in the late 90s and early 2000s. their Player development has been excellent.

You can't say they are one of the worst run franchises just because they've been incredibly lucky. Look at all the incredible players they drafted outside of the lottery over the past 40 years. At some point you have to say they didn't just get lucky on those non-lotto picks, but there's a pattern of making really good picks. we have enough data to know that it's not just random.

Yeah not sure he will be anything good. Might be best to use him as a 6th man. I changed my pick to either Walter Clayton or Hugo Gonzales

the dont have a finals appearance... but
14 playoff appearances in past 22 years, including 7 yrs in a row during the randolph, marc gasol, conley, tony allen years. 7 years with over 50 wins

and doing that in the leagues smallest tv market.

they aren't even close to worst run franchise for what little they are working with.

True good points. I will remove them from my list but NOT because of your good points but because I would have thought of it eventually :P.

Man if we just found a way to have kept kobe we would have been a waaaaaaay better franchise. Would have had stars throughout if nothing more.

Their competence is extremely overrated. Not saying they are terrible but they aren't all that Iike everyone thinks.

They've been dog shite since Kawhi left, merely employing the tanking strategy, no better than anyone else other than hitting the jackpots.

Kawhi was a draft day trade and they developed the **** out of him. They deserve credit for him, the rest is a lot of draft luck.
Having your franchise player in Tim Duncan set the tone of team first really helps

These are my draft picks ish over the last few years. It's kinda tough to grade it cause all my selections would have came with a TRADE BACK and acquired more picks. The players with * symbols next to their names means I started out with those players but changed when they became popular*

2025 - WALTER CLAYTON, MAXIME RAYNAUD, KAM JONES, TAELON PETER - *HUGO GONZALES*
2024 - BUB CARRINGTON, NIKOLA DURISIC
2023 - AUSAR THOMPSON, JALEN WILSON - *BRANDON MILLER, GRADEY DICK*
2022 - MARK WILLIAMS, JOSH MINOT - *SHAEDON SHARPE*
2021 - JOSH PRIMO, JERICO SIMS
2020 - ISAIAH JOE, PAUL REED - *LAMELO BALL, TYRESE HALIBURTON, KILLIAN HAYES, TYRELL TERRY*
2019 - NAW, JALEN MCDANIELS
2018 - MILES BRIDGES, YUTA WATANABE

RESULTS - TONS OF DRAFT PICKS WOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED

CARRINGTON / CLAYTON
AUSAR / JOE
WILSON / DURISIC
WATANABE / RAYNAUD
WILLIAMS / SIMS

WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN MY PICKS IF I STUCK WITH THEM AND THEY NOT BECAME POPULAR

MELO / CARRINGTON / CLAYTON JR
SHAEDON / JOE / PRIMO
MILLER / WILSON
MILES / RAYNAUD
WILLIAMS / SIMS

I'm really proud of this guy Taelon Peter. He has been so fun to watch this summer league. Hasn't done anything flashy but if you know his story and see it develop THAT makes him fun. His last game he had 15 pts.

I wonder if he will join the DUNK contest

NBA SL feature game yesterday Mavs and Spurs; Flagg busts out to score big, looking great once he got on track. Harper with a good game also, but only 2 assists. That’s not too unusual in SL but it reminds me how Dylan wasn’t a huge assist guy in college either. He may play out S more a combo when all is said and done. Just wonder how he will slot in with the other guards already there.
