Windhorst and LeBron

Post#1 » by zimpy27 » Sun Jul 13, 2025 7:52 am

A few months ago we had LeBron distance himself from Windy. Windy said that they are no longer close too.

Now we have a Windy article and people still think he's tapped into LeBron's inner circle.

Can people not see why LeBron dislikes Windy? People still assume Windy knows LeBrons thoughts even after LeBron was unusually vocally against him.

I don't dislike Windy but it's clear that he asserts himself as in the know on LeBrons when he isn't

Him and Ramona need to hit the gym instead of baiting for clicks. It's rather pathetic at this point.

Normally I wouldn't stoop to personal insults with these journalists but when they're literally making things up (or have terrible sources) and then have to backtrack with an egg on their face it comes with the territory.

I do dislike Windhorst, I dislike any hacknwriter whose actions are to create a narrative while pretending to report it, this was true when he was glazing LeBron and it's true now with his lame attempt to hurt his image.

The Hoop Collective should be re-titled The Lakers Collective & a Bit of Other NBA News.

Windhorst even said his producers make him talk about the Lakers. First day of FA they led with LaRavia.

Windhorst is meh. Bontemps is the antithesis of his name. McMahon seems pretty cool though.

Windhorst is ESPN's designated LeBron reporter, so I'm sure most of what he does is directed by the bosses.

When LeBron retires, a lot of ESPN personalities will have to basically reimagine their careers.

I had a different thought. After Lebron outted him a few months ago, Windhorst has spent a disproportionate amount of time on his/other shows repeating over and over again the narrative that Lebron is old and Doncic is the new guy. Which is not untrue and it was an important story when it came out that I appreciated.

However recently I noticed that he inserts this narrative into EVERYTHING constantly and I don't get what he's reporting. Everyone knows this already. I don't see any fan or media personality purporting that the team is built around Lebron. It's not a story anymore. But he just keeps pushing and pushing and pushing.

To me it's clear he's bitter and thinks he's doing it cleverly. "I hate to say it" or "he's old and that's not an insult" or "he can't carry a team nor should he, he's 40" these sly sentences that are designed to continue being passive aggressive towards Lebron.

I bet if Lebron had allowed the charade to continue, we would be hearing non-stop about how this is such an emotional season possible saying goodbye to Lebron.

Btw I'm not a Lebron fan AT ALL. I just noticed that Windhorst has been severely disproportionately reporting the portion of the truth that doesn't look good for that guy. Someone at ESPN imo should get him back to balanced professional standards. He doesn't know anything about basketball, he's just a kind of gossip expert. Can be fun and some things he says are true, but it gets tiring from someone who doesn't even get how the politics apply to the court.

I mean this is probably it and Windy is forced to do it for his career.

Windhorst wrote a book on LeBron, so he considers LeBron reporting his domain. However, I think Rich cut him off long ago as he uses Shams these days, so Windhorst is a plug for other agents.

Not so long ago he was swooning over players like James Wiseman because either his agents or the team wanted to have his value pumped. He was shamelessly pushing the Lakers to hire Griffin as president of basketball ops on ESPN network programming while he was unemployed before the disaster in New Orleans.

If we ever get to the stage where the oil countries end up owning NBA teams and need their image whitewashed in the American media, Windhorst would be the first in line, as he's already dropping breadcrumbs about his vist to Dubai or Qatar on his podcast.

Windhorst is my favorite of the 3. The other 2 slightly annoy me.

Not a fan of Windhorst but at the very least I don't think he is one of those muck racking journalists looking to find dirt to discredit LeBron or any other Superstar in the game (unlike many of the awful journalists who follow/cover European Soccer who are constantly on the look out for scandals)

It's bit of a slow news/quiet off season for the NBA, especially with reports Giannis is happy to stay at Milwaukee for now, LeBron is the biggest name in the game still and The Lakers the most popular global team on the planet, so it's probably natural they still be most of the news from the NBA.

Wouldn't read into anything much further into it.

They'll be fine:

"How would rookie/prime LeBron fare in today's NBA?"
"Is LeBron making a comeback? Three teams he could go to today"
"This new stat proves LeBron was even better than we thought"
"I asked ChatGPT if LeBron was the GOAT"
"FUBU League: LeBron starting NBA competitor?"
"Did LeBron's genetics skip a generation? Bronny's son born at 11lbs"
"Secret supplement that tests can't detect revealed as true source of LeBron's strength"
"Has LeBron gone vegan in retirement? Inside King James' kitchen with his head chef"
"Settling the debate: UFC 11 finally lets us see if LeBron could beat up a gorilla"

Windy is a garbage journalist, and I refuse to read anything he writes. It’s incredibly painful to listen to the nonsense he spews.

Well the guy was on his nuts as a 15/16 year old kid, which is pretty creepy. He was later his defacto spokesperson for years, in all likelihood he would never had a career covering the NBA without LeBron blessing. You could tell he hated when he went to Miami and praying he would go back to the cavs with his reporting. It doesn’t matter, he needs to worry about his health and weight more than his relationship with LeBron and covering the NBA. I also laugh at his podcast, he is like “ I GOT IT” whenever anyone says anything he disagrees with him.

Yeah I see your point. The spelling is incorrect both times. One would have expected they'd use a spell checker or fix the issue with the update.

LeBron has tried to control the media and the narrative around him more than any athlete in the history of sports…his sFans eat it up.

I find him to be an insufferable narcissist and couldn’t care less about anything written/talked about him.

I think they thought they could get away with the original because it was technically true. They told LeBron's representation but they did not give him the "same notice" as Luka.

Windhorst never needed LeBron or Rich Paul to tell him stuff, he's got connections and only bothers to report a fraction of what he hears because unlike most media types these days he still believes in journalistic principals like trying to verify a rumor or at least multi-source it before reporting it.

So, no Windy doesn't know LeBron's thoughts and has never claimed he does; but he does know snapshots of his thoughts as relayed to him through the grapevine and I'm sure that pisses LeBron off. Imagine griping about something to a friend at a party and a couple days later it's being retold on ESPN.

It'd drive a lot of people paranoid.

But people can't shuttup when they think they know some juicy gossip other people don't.

i'm sure it's complicated

windy does know lebron better than other reporters,,,,but please post an audio where windhorst asserts his relationship/friendship with lebron

and throw this in.....windy's agent is rich paul/klutch

here's the conclusion ive come to over the years...lebron is manipulative in everything in his life...i've heard him say and imply more sh** than any athlete ive ever known...and if lebron/klutch wanted to they could make like difficult for windhorst or simply stop representing him

i'll throw in my 2¢. hoop collective has a significant following. it is under the umbrella of espn. when such a situation happens there are inevitable conflicts of loyalties because the responsibility becomes more objective not subjective.

this is just my way of saying lebron is prolly the @ssH**** in all this

Windhorst has lost any inside information once lbj went to miami

Windyfatass thought he was going to stay in cleveland and his credibility when to **** at that moment

similar to screaming a smith, they both sent their resume to lbjs people to be his main source for media and lbjs people said they run the media so why need them.
