Re: 2025 Summer League
Bilal, Sarr, Tre, Kyshawn, Whitmore, Carrington.
People forget Kyshawn is a year older than Bilal. Sarr just turned 20. We need to be patient with both of them.
Tre is most likely to become a 1st option/all-star. Bilal and Sarr become high end starters IMO. Kyshawn has the makings of an elite role player. Whitmore could shine in a high usage roll on this team.

Re: 2025 Summer League
I envision in 3-5 years our personnel to shake out like this.
2026 draft pick. (1A two way player or high usage scorer)
—-
Tre. (Fringe all star, final bucket go-to scorer).
—-
As yet unattained rebounder, interior scorer, rim protecting deterrent
—-
George (indispensable utility player, +/- leader). Sarr, Bilal (critical high level defenders)
—-
Bub (mistake free floor captain, efficient if low volume scorer, game organizer, pulls the occasional minor triple double)
—-
Whitmore, AJ, Riley (microwave scorers, bucket creators, sometime defensive liabilities).

When it comes to selecting a shooter for your team, what is the difference between selecting Tres at 6 and Koby Brea at 41? Just curious in-terms of drafting strategy and team building. Thx

Add a young rebounding, shot blocking big and this is a very good team in 2-3 yrs.

Re: 2025 Summer League
Tre is a scorer who can make shots from pretty much anywhere on the court both off the dribble and catch-and-shoot.closg00 wrote:When it comes to selecting a shooter for your team, what is the difference between selecting Tres at 6 and Koby Brea at 41? From what I’ve seen, Brea is primarily a catch-and-shoot 3 pt shooter…but he looks like a steal at 41.

Tre Johnson turned 19 a few months ago. Brea played 5 years of college ball and will be 23 in November.

People need to be reminded of this over and over again. Not only is it a matter of experience, it also affects the degree the player needs to step out of his comfort zone.
Guys that come into the league after 5 years of college know full well that they are not destined to be stars in the NBA. If they were, they would have been drafted after their freshman or sophomore year. They know their path to an NBA job is to become a role player, so they focus on the role they're best at. We didn't see Brea trying to advance the ball against defensive pressure. We didn't see Brea run pick-and-rolls and risk turnovers. He was a catch and shoot guy who attacked closeouts. He had the benefit of playing the role he was most comfortable playing.

It will be interesting to see how they manage the payroll as many of these dudes will need to get paid around the same time.

They don't "need" to get paid. They will be eligible to get paid.
I don't think this FO will get bent over by agents in negotiations like the previous regimes.

Super good point. My point - they may well get paid - by another team. Maybe we should assume all won't be here?

Nah. All investment involves risk. Drafting a player is like picking a single stock. Every suchh choice involves risk. Sadly, there's no basketball equivalent of, say, an indexed fund -- wch spreads risk across a portfolio of stocks.
Hard for me to find much substance in your critique -- i.e. beyond pure opinion, to which u have a perfect right obviously!
I find zero substance in anything you post. It is all your opinions. If you believe otherwise, you are delusional.
By the way, the first line in my post was that you had asked the question previously and I answered it. You completely ignored that part, but because it was inconvenient to your attempt to make a derisive opinionated post.

It's getting hot in here. Would this be a good time to bring up Deni Avdija?

IOW, lets remember these are early days and hope when Tre reaches Brea's age, he will hopefully have gotten a lot better.

Yeah, I'm seeing the locks to get major developmental runway this season as Sarr at center, a rotation of Cam, Kyshawn & Bilal at the forwards, and Bub, Tre & AJ at the guards.

Re: 2025 Summer League
Death, taxes, and the Wizards summer league opponent having far more athletic point guards that totally disrupt anything we try on offense completely ruining our game plan. I thought Bub would turn the tables for us. And he was decent to good last year in summer league but somehow was worse against Phoenix.

Yeah, Phoenix' ball pressure at the point of attack caused us real problems. Bub had some trouble getting us into our sets, and the second unit couldn't get into any half-court sets at all.
It'll be interesting to see if this is a trend going forward. Both OKC and Indiana showed that if you can hound the opposition's ball handler for 94 feet, you slow down the start of their half court offense and make it much tougher to score.
