So let's look at all the bucks players last year who got at least 500 minutes. Then i'll update the roster with our changes and see what stands out.

Just a note: any player who played for two or more teams has all of their stats combined here. as far as i know, there's no way to isolate just Bucks numbers for any player.

All Turner's 2-man lineups were bad at rebounding. And that's not just cuz he's camped outside on offense. They were near the bottom of the league in d-rebounding. So I don't think we can do the 3 small guard thing w/ him much. I'd especially remove Trent who sucks at pursuing boards.

We may well need a wing who can rebound. That's not Prince. Plausible it's Kuz if he gets his act together. I wouldn't bank on that, & would try to acquire someone like Champagnie. And we should seldom not play Giannis, Bobby, or Sims w/ Turner. Giannis can't grab all boards though.

That Jerryd Bayless comp for Cole Anthony has something to it.

Kuzma if he stayed within himself offensively could a be serviceable roleplayer, at least not one you’d totally dread being in the line up. Really could use a good shooting year. Im in the acceptance stage

For sure, we had a discussion here that week that if he could make himself 3/4 of Dennis Rodman that’s a useful player. He certainly has the athleticism for that type of impact. Would just need a total reinvention of himself, which happens (Brook Lopez) but is not common.

Idk if we'll get it but I want to see this lineup get a bunch of minutes and see what happens:

Turner
Bobby
Giannis
AJG/GTJ
KPJ

Put Giannis on the other team's worst offensive player and let him roam/help.

Ig today I’m in cope mode about Kuz but if AJJ was the offensive player that Kuz is we’d probably be thinking of him as a core piece. Unfortunately he has Ben Simmons level range and passivity

I've never been mpressed with Cole.

Someone tell me what he does that makes him better than Rollins? I'm not even looking to debate, just curious what I'm missing. Everytime I watch him, he looks like he barely belongs on the floor.

Someone mentioned he was a pesty/good defender. I thought he was a minus minus defensive player.

Someone talk me into this.

There's nothing inherent about Kuz' game that makes him not a 3. Like, he can guard 3's. And in most prior seasons he shot well enough off the catch and in the corners from 3. He just regressed badly least season & hasn't been able to simplify his offensive game which is a general issue.

He clearly is a better rebounder than Rollins, which we could use at times w/ Turner at the 5, & if people are talking about 3 guards. He's better at bringing up against pressure. And he's more of a microwave scorer to get us out of funks. Got to pick spots.

I still think Rollins is better in a vacuum & he has more room to improve. But it's not like Anthony has to even do that to be useful in some capacity. 3 straight seasons he had a positive on/off +/-. Never particularly in negatives. FWIW, he's a vocal leader, which we would have used.

Being on a winning team with aspirations and a multi MVP can do wonders for how a guy preps for the season and understands his role. Last year he was preparing for a fail year where he would just have the ball whenever.

he may not end up being better than Rollins, so there's really no need to go there. hopefully, Rollins ascends to starter caliber and Anthony is a very solid backup. bball index has Anthony as a slightly above average point of attack defender who is also slightly above average on offense overall. so if you trust that metric more than the eye test of flipping on a few Magic games, the fact that we added a 25 year old two way player for the vet min is a good thing. No need to go deeper than that for now. The rest will be solved on the court this fall.

Plus Kuzma came into a team here where our 2 all stars were just figuring out how to blend together still.. there's no tug of war this year

He rates out poorly in advanced D stats because while he is good on ball on wings, he gets roasted by quick guards and gets completely lost in rotations.

Who thinks he's better than Rollins? Maybe I missed the posts.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

He looks like he should go back to Europe. Maybe forever.

It was a joke my dude.

He was saying it as a positive. He led that comeback and was unstoppable. 27 and 8 in the 2nd half.
Oh ****! I didn't watch until the end.

Hopefully a full training camp with defensive drills will repair him. If he still is with the team that is...
