I understand if the cost to move up to 31 was 3 or 4 second round picks, not wanting to pay that price for Fleming who is an unknown. But Stevens should have stayed put and taken someone at 32.

No because they would be that much more over the second apron. The decision to move down had absolutely nothing to do with basketball.

Maybe it should have

Edit: Celtics are 320,000 (ish) over the second apron. The roster spot is already filled with Walsh getting 2.2 million per year but only 200k is guaranteed. I would happily cut him. And then either stretch Tilman or send him out with cash to another team so he is off the books. Celtics could still be under the second apron having drafted a guy at 32.

I think Maine is his ceiling.. i just don't see any single thing He does that will project well for the. N b a.

He's a much better shooter than he's shown here.

That may be true, but as a point guard. He has no quickness, ball handling. Or playmaking skills. And as a two guard, he's quite undersized.. he just seems too unathletic at any position. Whatever, let him prove me wrong in Maine. And we'll see next summer.

Well, if the Celtics don’t sign Bassey, someone else is certainly going to. Kid has been dominant

Give Bassey the bag, and Walsh the boot.

Well, somebody is going to give Bassey a contract, and I hope it's us.

Celtics have 15 players. They are not going to cut anyone in summer league and they definitely won’t be adding a 16th salary. They may need a spot for Lillard and who knows maybe even Big Al.

If Bassey makes the team it will be a while.

May have to invest in black coffee

If they don't sign him, someone else will. Which may be part of why they gave him so much more time than Amari today: They don't have a decision to make on Amari, but they do on Bassey.

nobody on the team the past 2 years has had bassey's skill set. we always get out rebounded and out hustled. sign this guy. he can play the luke role as a big who doesn't shoot. probably not as good of a screener, but a much better lob threat and more active on the boards

Remember how much Tatum loved to play with Rob? He'd be in heaven with Bassey.

I agree, and what they may have saved by trading down. They will eventually lose when they have to start signing real players. Amari and shulga appear to be very limited. RAYNAUD woukd actually crack our rotation this year? And may turn out to be better than any center we have. Perhaps even be our starting centre going forward. But now instead we will have to shut out more than we save just to get a legit center.

A dime a dosen player
You can find one on each European team
I am not impressed by our 2nd rounders

Bassey should get something signed
Roco played well all around
Bridges is good
Lofton also played good. He plays hard, rebounds, sets a mean pick and can score a bunch. We play better with Bassey and Lofton sharing the court

Lol. They aren't. Came down to Brad not thinking Maxime was worth a guaranteed contract. Maxime or Garza? That is probably the comparison.

if they don't sign bassey they're fully committed to the soft tank. there's no way this guy wouldn't positively impact the team when healthy

We should do like Knicks fans did with LeBron. Just assume he is ours when he is a free agent. I am already penciling in 2030. Flagg to Boston.

We do need to get him a Massachusetts girl, however. He can't fall in love with a cowgirl and nit want to leave.

Not really. He moves his feet very well on defense and he sets a mean pick. He just doesn't play above the rim.

He is just a big man weight wise. He is an nba talent. Its hard for adutka to maintain their weight. Sullinger, Big Baby, Antoine, Pekins…zion…guys with that body type it is very very difficult.

Food is powerful…depression, happiness, identity, comfort all come as a result of food.

I lost 30 pounds on keto and got depressesed. Its insne the impact food has on your mental health.

If this is true, this is nuts. Just in general missing out on the draft generally because you don't want to guarantee a rookie's first and second year. How does the team expect to compete under this CBA with two max players in their late 20s if they think signing a rookie to a 2 yr guarantee (with 2 TO's after that) is putting them over the budget.

I refuse to accept this was Brad's thinking. Because it's a false rationale, you need 14 players. A #32 pick will sign for $1.9 million, signing a veteran is going to be a veteran's minimum which will count as $2.2 million on the cap.

It's not like if you don't take a player, you get to carry a 13 man roster, you are still going to sign a 14th player that will cost more than a 32nd pick's salary

edit: according to spotrac Noah Penda and Rasheer Fleming both signed roster contracts with a 2025-26 salary cap figure of $1.27 million

I hope we do. I think the thing with him is that he had to show that he's all the way back from his torn ACL. He has definitely done that. You'd think that other teams have taken note, too.
