How much time between picks
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Don't love the Pirates adding Seth Hernandez, but they'll find some way to screw it up.

Four pitchers and six SS go in the top ten.

Literally every position taken in this draft has been SS or P.

Wouldn't be a Brewers type pick at all, but Jace Laviolette would be fun.

They’ll probably take an under slot.

Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 60 | Run: 40 | Arm: 55 | Field: 45 | Overall: 50

After setting a Duke freshman record with 11 homers in 2023, Fischer transferred to Mississippi and led the Rebels with 20 blasts last spring. He changed schools again, moving to defending College World Series champion Tennessee and finishing third in NCAA Division I with 25 homers and fourth with 63 walks. He's similar to former Volunteers third baseman Billy Amick, who transferred from Clemson for 2024 and went to the Twins in the second round.

Fischer's signature tool is his plus power that works to all fields, the product of a left-handed swing with bat speed and loft, strength in his 6-foot-1, 210-pound frame and a slugging mindset. He showed that he can launch balls in the air with wood bats last summer in the Cape Cod League. He has been even more productive as a junior after toning down his approach and chasing pitches a lot less, and he also did a better job of handling sliders.

Fischer could have helped his cause further by upgrading his defense at third base, but he has barely played there this spring. He has solid arm strength but below-average speed and range at the hot corner, so Tennessee has deployed him mostly at first base, where he's a decent defender. He played some second base on the Cape but lacks the quickness for the position.

Toured the American South throughout his college career, with stops at Duke, Ole Miss, and then finally Tennessee for his draft year, during which he slashed .341/.497/.760. Roster fit at Tennessee meant Fischer played more first base than third base by a wide margin. Played mostly third at Ole Miss, also has experience at second and in left. Looked fine enough at third in 2024 to merit pro development there. Range and arm are a fit there, hands need polish. Big uppercut swing, averaged 18 degrees of launch in 2025. Medium-framed with powerful arms generating big leverage through effort and strength. More about consistent hard contact with lift rather than enormous top-end raw power. Apt to swing over softer stuff, even when it doesn't quite finish below the zone. Middle range outcome is that of a valuable corner platoon bat, ultimate upside is an everyday player.

A Jersey Shore native, Fischer spent his three seasons in college ball in three different programs, but he fits the mold of a Tennessee bat, Drew Gilbert-style, pulling fly balls and playing with his hair on fire. He’s patient at the plate and his contact rates are fine for now, although he will swing through velo enough to throw a beige flag out for pro projection there. His power output comes less from elite exit velocities and more for his pull-and-lift approach, pulling fly balls on over 15% of his batted balls in 2025, a rate similar to players like Jose Altuve and Kyle Tucker. (In other words: he pulls a lot of fly balls, but not to Isaac Paredes or Cal Raleigh territory, at least not yet.) He will swing hard in all counts, meaning his EV90 is more impressive than the very top end of the exit velos. Overall, Fischer has an offensive profile built for unlocking game power. Defensively, he’s a corner infielder who has the theoretical tools for third base, where he played primarily for Duke in 2023 and Ole Miss in 2024, though some teams prefer him more clearly as a first base profile, where he played most of 2025.
