I'm seeing a lot of people projecting this guy as underslot. Why do you think he's not?

Have absolutely no idea what the Brewers plan at 1B is. Wilken, Adams, Boeve, Martinez, Black, Bitonti, Burke, and now Fischer.

He's firmly a first rounder, and a top 20 prospect in some places. They weren't saving any money with this one.

Interesting. I don't follow this draft closely, I've just seen a lot of prospect people say the opposite. Will be interesting to follow

Most great college sports programs have a defined brand. For Tennessee under Vitello, it’s three things: pitchers who throw hard, position players who hit for power, and a big attitude throughout the roster.

That last part has made Tennessee a bit polarizing nationally. If there’s anything more annoying than a team that wins all the time, it’s a team that wins all the time and crows about it.

“I’m an extrovert. I interact with people well. I mean, maybe not on the field, in between the lines, right?” says infielder Andrew Fischer. “Some people don’t love the way I play the game, but I’m very comfortable in my own skin.”

Fischer transferred to Tennessee from Ole Miss before his junior year, and led the Vols in most offensive categories during his only year in Knoxville. He figures to hear his name called on Sunday.

It was Fischer who stood at the plate during a regional game against Wake Forest, when Wake head coach Tom Walter was caught on camera using a homophobic slur. That same at-bat, Fischer turned around and launched one of his 25 home runs, causing pandemonium in the Volunteer dugout.

I think there could be a little savings in there with Fischer. His slot is $4,268,100 and I suppose you could try and see if he agrees to a flat 4 mil. I am seeing the same on Twitter that there could be some savings there.

We should know here if they indeed saved money or need now to save money.

Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 45 | Run: 45 | Arm: 60 | Field: 50 | Overall: 50

Ebel grew up around the game, with his father, Dino, serving as the Dodgers’ third-base coach. His experience working with big leaguers for a long time was clearly on display throughout the summer showcase circuit at events like the Area Code Games and Major League Baseball’s High School All-American Game. He also helped Corona High School win the 2024 National High School Invitational last spring and looked like he might join Seth Hernandez and Billy Carlson as Corona teammates who could go in the first round, but a tough spring at the plate has hurt his Draft stock.

Over the summer, Ebel showed he could do a lot of things well, albeit without wow tools, along with some physical projection that could enable his skills to play up. It’s clear he’s been around professional hitters, with a smooth left-handed swing and an advanced approach at the plate. He found the barrel consistently and performed well against high-level stuff over the summer, but concerns about bat speed and impact have carried over to his senior year. There could very well be more power to come as he fills out his 6-foot-3 frame, but he was hitting too many balls on the ground this spring.

Ebel doesn’t run well and many see a move to third in his future, where he was already playing this spring in deference to Carlson, which would put a little more pressure on the power side of his offensive profile. He does have a plus arm that is impressively accurate and would play from anywhere. His baseball IQ could allow everything to play up and is a big reason why many still see the LSU recruit hearing his name called early on in the Draft.
