McCullar did not play at all last season and was our best player today. No excuses for the other guys on the team to be that bad.

He was a respected college player who's draft value fell because of his injury. He would probably have been drafted in the 30s if not for his injury. He's also one of the players playing for a contract. Huk's contract isn't guaranteed, but he's likely going to be kept on the team. Dadiet & Kolek's contracts are guaranteed. A lot of the other players, Beauchamp, Diaware, McCullar, Nnaji, and others, are playing for a roster spot, so they might be more likely to hustle.
Go Knicks!! Go Mets!!

As for the Jets . . . just keep it entertaining.

You must not have watched the game and saw how completely outclassed every player on the Knicks looked, minus McCullars.
Huk looked "ok", nothing special.

Diawara flashed real speed and good hands on defense but he's raw, which figures.

Kolek looks awful.
The coaching looked worse.

I thought that maybe in the 1st game, the Knicks were off because Detroit was just that committed to defense, because they looked clueless on offense for the most part. The 2nd game looked exactly the same, like they didn't know how to set screens, react to defensive pressure, who was in what role, etc.

It's summer league so it doesn't mean anything, but I'd like to hope it's that the coach of the team is that bad.
Probably a bit of both. Some of the players aren't as bad as the coach makes them look, the talent of the youth isn't that good.

He got his almost all inside on drives, putbacks, and posting. Very few jumpers. He looked very comfortable, didn't miss often, and seems to have talent. Of course, we need him to shoot 3's, so I'm not getting too excited about him. He also played hard on D (most of the time), showing he knows what he needs to do to get a spot.

I thought if all of beauchamp's missed shots (they were almost all missed) went to someone else, and if Kolek remembered how he played last season, we'd have won. Sadly, Kolek made a number of good passes what were wasted by the recipients of those passes. Nobody was really shooting well.

Yudai Baba looks like he knows what he's doing, probably because he's extremely old for SL (he's 29) and he knows he's not really a candidate for the big team. He's just in the right place and comfortable making the obvious plays, but it's hard to tell if he's actually good because he only gets 2 minutes in garbage time. They probably brought him over just to have the body available, but guys don't foul out, so they may be playing him 2 minutes out of respect for having traveled from Japan just to be a garbage time scrub.

The pressure to be successful right off the rip is understandable in NY, but coincidently, we're unable to grow a stainable winning franchise.

To be honest and soley my opinion, Frank and Knox had talent, that was quickly smothered by an impatient NY fanbase. Their confidence shattered permanently, along with whatever promise. Btw, what impressed me most about RJ was his mental-toughness, cause man, did we challenge it. I'm happy for him, that he's loved in Tor.

I just want to remind some of you that these kids, were introduced to a new system last year and now have to learn new schemes all over.

Kolek was a great PG. He looks broken out there.
Where is the defense?

What made Kolen so great, I give the young man props, but crown him great? That's a reach right now.

His ups and downs let's you know he's not ready to assume that backup PG spot at this time.

In trying to find some kind of silver lining for Kolek, I was wondering how many of his turnovers were trying too hard to do whatever the coach was asking, because it feels like he had about 10 dumb turnovers in the 2 games.

He's been the biggest disappointment. Doesn't look good running the offense (let's pretend it's the coaches fault), can barely make any of his shots, outside or inside.

If we didn't know of him from last year, he'd be getting torn apart with no one wanting him within a mile of the team.

Maybe kolek is injured or he is playing drunk.

I thought of that. He could also be in vacation mode. Another possibility is they told him to decide what to do with the ball in 0.5 seconds, instead of planning where to pass. So he's trying to figure out how to do that (not very successfully in the first 2 games).

Per minute best distributor in the league. Small sample but he was also the best distrubutor in college.

Kolek is a system QB and nobody on our summer roster seems to know the system or runs it consistently. He's in a shooting slump but his value is his court vision and ability to find open shooters. I think he's getting kind of screwed here with this rookie coach and inexperienced, low IQ players.

Its a bummer that kolek looks like he isnt ready... at least from what i can tell from the boxscore. I only watched the first game. But 1-13 is not it.
Huk on the other hand, looks like he could play in the regular season.

I thought we liked rookie coaches with no experience and fresh ideas.

Kolek put up 36/11/5 in g-league with similar players

I think you could say the same for Dadiet as a 3-D shooter. Disappointing he got 3s and missed them yesterday.

We just have to let Leon cook! lol

I would only take Smart with a non-guaranteed contract and if he doesn’t pan out we cut him.
I will only cherish the wins and ignore everything else, because that's the only way to survive as a Knicks fan.

Jokubaitis is our best prospect.

They should just give him a 2 year deal and see if he’s got anything at this point.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

The way the Knicks operate, even in the Rose era, is if a young player struggles they're out on them way too quick and ditch them for scraps....unless it's nepObi, then they wait way too long and ditch him for scraps.

So I expect Paco and Tyko to be traded away for used sneakers and one of the two will blossom into a useful rotational player. My guess it would be it's Kolek.

Kolen, Kotex...the knicknames are coming fast and furious for him now that he's struggled a couple of summer league games with a bunch of rando teammates he met like a week ago.

It also means the FO will probably bring in some washed up vet that won't be worth the roster spot because they've lost faith in him.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.
