it will be interesting comparing him and Carter Bryant defensively as they both develop. Both effective, with the potential to be elite in their own unique ways.

Not gonna lie, RCMB sounds pretty good.
I guess you could say the R is for Raptors or "Our"

I was pleasantly surprised and look forward to more.
This is from a CMB advanced stat fan, but HATED the fit with the Raptors.

Not so mini. Barnes was an inch taller at the combine, and 15 lbs lighter.
Combine Measurements:
S Barnes: 6'7.0 w/o shoes, 7'2.75 wingspan, 9'0 standing reach, 225.4 lbs
CM Boyles: 6'6.5 w/o shoes, 7'0.75 wingspan, 8'10 standing reach, 239.2 lbs
ya, CMB is heavier, Barnes longer. Both are blessed with broad shoulders.

Yeah, I only meant he's not really that much smaller. He's an inch shorter but he's thicker. They compare well, I agree, just don't need the modifier

Scottie has that defined muscular build. CMB is just solid looking. For some reason Scottie looks about 2 or 3 inches taller on the court. Just a strange optical illusion I guess. Will be interesting when they play together.
CMB was carving out space around the hoop. You could tell he had size in that regard. Just looks short doing it, like someone that short has no business doing what he does inside.

Carter is like a bolt of lightning able to pick up full court and use all his fouls, while I trust CMB on all levels to defend. To me CMB is perfect for when Poeltl leaves the floor. He is capable to protect the paint, make the right pass, screen and rebound. He is shorter, but he is not getting bumped out too often even with a bigger guy.

Vague recollections of Adrian Dantley begin here, haha. Not that I expect CMB to become that sort of player, but the "shorter guy who knows to use/attack base" thing is similar. I continue to warm to CMB.

The amount of comraderie he has already with the team is kind of rare to see. But I don’t follow this stuff with other teams too often so maybe it’s normal. It bodes well though imo.

It's probably just a perception thing for me, Barnes just looks bigger out there. But functionally, they shouldn't be all that dissimilar, especially defensively.

Either way, it's their defense is something to be excited about. I'm concerned about the shooting, but blah blah blah I'm always concerned, but the prospect of them as a defensive pairing is actually quite intriguing.
I think CMB's base, and his understanding of how to hold his ground and carve space, is pretty advanced. So that's quite promising.

From a measurements standpoint CMB is actually most similar to Draymond.

Re: With the 9th Pick, the Raptors select Collin Murray-Boyles!
“I’m trying to do as many little things as possible to get my team in a better position to win,” he said. “We all had really good highlights and really good play down the stretch. We need it from everybody, (but) that's something that I have to do. That's something I owe to them, owe to my coaches, owe to everybody, everybody watching, especially the Raptors fanbase this year.”
Not only did the ninth-overall pick in the 2025 draft have to push back his professional debut by a couple of days as he nursed a hamstring strain (the team said originally it was an adductor strain) from early June, causing him to miss the Raptors’ Summer League opener on Friday, but he’s the rare lottery pick to choose to play a second year of college at South Carolina.
“I set a goal my junior year (of high school) to do two years of college, to 1) learn the game first, and then 2) utilize the game,” he said in an interview this week. “I was going to be 19 coming out of my sophomore year, so I knew I had time on my side. So, just utilizing what I learned my first year to really put myself out there.”
Coming down with mononucleosis, which delayed the start of his college season, was a factor, too.
“I didn't feel like I put myself out there in a good light, because, obviously, I was sick the first half of the first season, so I felt like I had more to prove,” said Murray-Boyles. “(But) shoot, if I wasn't sick, I probably would have come out that first year. It's just, you know, God has a plan, and I follow the plan willingly."
Was it the right decision?
“I was the No. 9 pick. I feel like that's almost self-explanatory.”
But the wait to see some version of NBA action was finally over Sunday as Murray-Boyles started for the Raptors in their grimy 89-86 win over the Orlando Magic to push their Summer League record to 2-0.
“It was amazing. Since my hamstring, that was my first time going in — it's been a minute, about a month and a half (since he had played five-on-five),” he said. “So just to get back out there, get the feel out there, it's amazing. And I'm glad to do it with these guys. They put a lot of energy into me.”
Murray-Boyles was understandably rusty. His first stint of action was less than four minutes long, but was enough time for him to airball a three, make a turnover, get out of breath and generally look a bit discombobulated.
“I had to get him out of there really quick,” said Raptors Summer League head coach James Wade. “You know that first wind, when you're not used to playing at that rhythm and speed, and everybody on the court is playing for something ... you got 10 hungry guys on the floor at all times … but I thought he responded well. And, you know, we leaned on him a lot in the second half.”
After falling behind by 11 late in the first quarter, the Raptors scored seven unanswered points in less than a minute before the buzzer sounded on the quarter to build some momentum. They kept it going when A.J. Lawson scored 11 of his team-best 21 points in a two-minute surge early in the second quarter. Murray-Boyles’ first professional bucket came on a dunk finishing a pick-and-roll with Lawson, which completed a 27-5 run that put Toronto up by eight.

His hands on defence are soo good. He also definitely comes from the Draymond school of being super handsy and physically bullying his man on defence. I can see him picking up a ton of fouls his rookie year till refs adjust

He's gonna be a beast!
I think he can develop a shot like Randle - if he does, he'll be an All-Star. His defense is already elite.

The amount of deflections and how easy he was doing it was impressive. Shows his length, hand size and just overall awareness. I think he will showcase his offense more as he plays more. You can already see how much he'll wreck havoc on that defensive end.

Re: With the 9th Pick, the Raptors select Collin Murray-Boyles!
Figuring out Mogbo and CMB is going to be an experiment. You can tell Mogbo likes to handle the ball and attack in transition. CMB could use some on-ball reps.
I want to see this man be given the ball as an initiator. I am curious about the dribble-drive game as I think it exists but he didn't get a real chance to show his skill. I know he was out for a couple, but they hardly used CMB on offense. He seemed way more on the perimeter.

CMB impressed me with how well he moved his feet defending on the perimeter. I think it'll be hard to get a good sense of his offensive game in summer league with the offense being almost exclusively initiated by a PG whereas in the regular seasons you'll have Ingram and Barnes doing a lot of it.
