Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions - Cole Anthony Incoming
if the volume snipers arent sniping then what is the alternative approach with this roster?
trents shot was broke as dick when the season started. delon was a mess. khris was awol. doc didnt have many options last year quite frankly. its not surprising ajax got run. or prince who was literally leading the league in 3pt%. or kuzma immediately after the trade all got alot of run.
the season was a bit of a mess. i think we figured some things out tho. we have better options of the same mold this year.

Thanks for confirming I’m right!
How is this a Doc problem? Who is he supposed to play as the backup wing? Harris? Ajax? Hell no, but this roster isn't done.
I’d give all 48 minutes at SF to AJG and GTJ. If there is a SF they are struggling to cover, put GA on him late in the 4th.

Not sure what we have for roster spots but adding Horford and Brogdon would look excellent at this point.
PG KPJ, Cole
SG AJG, Rollins
SF GTJ, Brogdon, Prince
PF Giannis, Portis
C Turner, Horford, Sims
I like the mix of youth, shooting and vets

I’d take Al as the starting SF over Kuz. Even at age 90 he’s better on both sides of the ball than Kuz.

No excuse for Doc going to and sticking with AJJ but never trying AJG as the starting SG.
Yeah, GTJ was not good to start the season because he had a back injury then he got better but for some reason they kept rolling out TP at SG which I don’t think even you will try to defend.

I have it looking more like this currently:
PG: Porter, Anthony, Rollins
SG: Trent, Rollins, Green, Porter
SF: Green, Prince, Kuzma, Trent
PF: Giannis, Bobby, Kuzma
C: Turner, Giannis, Sims
Deep Bench:
Harris
Jackson
Smith
Thanasis(?)
With a rotational minute breakdown that looks something like this:
Giannis = ~32 min [~17@PF|~15@C]
Turner = ~28 [@C]
Porter = ~28 [~24@PG|~4@SG]
Trent = ~28 [~24@SG|~4@SF]
Bobby = ~26 [@PF]
Green = ~24 [~19@SG|~5@SF]
Rollins = ~24 [~15@SG|~9@PG]
Anthony = ~15 [@PG]
Prince = ~15 (or 20 or 10 or 5) [@SF]
Kuzma = ~15 (or 10 or 5) [~10@SF|~5@PF]
Sims = ~5 [@C]
Harris = 0 (or 5 or 10 or 15) [@SF/SG]
It’ll be intriguing to see how the minutes get allocated between KPJ & RR at both guard positions. Right now I have it such that the minutes at PG are dominated by KPJ and the SG minutes are dominated by RR; effectively leading to Rollins becoming the 3rd PG & the 2nd SG option; though, a more even dispersion could materialize.
Similarly for Trent & Green between SG and Small Forward. I also have Green in the starting lineup at SF, but that’s far from a sure thing.
Harris is a guy I could see potentially eating into the minutes of Kuzma & possibly Prince at SF in extended small ball situations; plus, he’s the defacto emergency depth option at SG too or someone who may be called upon for specific defensive end-of-game situations at either guard spot. He also, more or less, makes Andre Jackson Jr. completely expendable.
Between Prince, Kuzma, & Harris at SF I think there’s plenty of variance based on matchup, fouls, & hot hand. But ideally, the Bucks can and will find a way to majorly upgrade the SF position this season even if it requires waiting until the trade deadline. No panic deals involving the ‘31 1st or key players (like AJ Green) for non-needle movers. There’s approximately ~30 or so minutes available to a real difference maker at SF in replacement.

If Kuzma stays, he just needs to be moved to backup PF. I just have high doubts Doc is smart enough to do that.
Cole Anthony being bought out has made me reconsider whether the Bucks have enough to get Murphy a little bit (I still lean somewhat strongly no). Previously I was saying flatly no because I think Murphy and Bane are similar caliber of players and I think would get a similar haul. And so a week ago I though to get Bane it was 4 first round picks, really 3 because one of those was to take KCP, and a solid young player in Cole Anthony and the Bucks don't have enough to compete with that deal. But given that it turns out the Grizzlies viewed Anthony as little more than salary relief, I think Kuzma, AJG and the 2031 1st for Murphy isn't as bad in comparison to the deal Bane got as I thought. If the Pels like Tyler Smith or AJJ, it might be pretty close.

Too much sky is falling in regards to Porter's role and Anthony taking away from it. I know its Doc, but given how everything has shaken out and the fact that both Doc and Horst have said as much, so much of what they're taking a shot at here is predicated on Porter being a real thing for better or for worse. He'll get a ton of playing time and shots.
We don't have to worry about nepotism. If we did our franchise player would've demanded his big bro get a signficant role.

Literally game 1 Luzma put up the all time worst playoff stat ever. 21:35 mins 0/0/0/0/0/0 and 0/5fg
So game 2 Doc rewards him with 31 minutes where he puts up better shooting 5/10 but manages to only grab 3 rebounds 1 assist and nothing else in those 31 mins.
Game 3 20:36 mins 4/9 3 rebs 1 ast 1blk
Game 4 Doc FINALLY realizes maybe this guy isn't meant for this series BUT he still gives him 16 mins and he goes 1/6 for 3 points and 1 assist...
Game 5 HE STILL GIVES HIM 12 MINUTES AFTER ALL THIS TERRIBLE PLAY. Probably his best game of the series 2/5 with 5 boards.
Imagine those minutes go to AJG or GTJ or literally anyone, it's not like the Pacers were playing BIG. Maybe we go 6 games, maybe 7. Doc was actively sabotaging that series with Kuzma, Lopez and Prince.
It took him 4 playoff games to make the adjustment that nearly everyone on this board knew during the last 20 games of the season. He already had his plane ticket booked.

F**k it. We've come this far. Might as well not half ass jumbo ball. Let's revolutionize the game & fulfill Hambone's dream!
5 Turner
4 Horford
3 Portis
2 Kuzma
1 Giannis
Will give new meaning to the phrase "five out".

That’s not a Cole Anthony problem tho as he actually is signed as a 3rd PG on a minimum deal, we’re really depending a lot on KPJ and Rollins making a leap this year. I’ve always been partial to Chris Paul but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen oh well. Some people thought he was too old, okay, well Anthony is 25 and a pretty good athlete? I don’t understand negativity about it. team needs depth!

At least KPJ making a leap is more realistic than Knight becoming an All-Star. What a run.

well green started 7 games and was absolutely horrible in them. probably not a big enough sample for me to pull the plug all year but every one of his starts he kinda sucked. like literally every one until that last game in indy where he played wonderfully.
so maybe doc just got it in his head he was better off the bench? i do know he feels strongly on him. hes said that time and again. and starter or reserve he always got his minutes. the interview where he said green and trent were gonna break out.... i think to break out you have to play more of a role right?
Green....
starter(7 games reg season)
24.7 mpg
29% fg%
30.2 3pt%
42.7 ts%
-12.0 net rating
off the bench
22.5 mpg
44.7 fg%
44.4 3pt%
64.5 ts%
+8.8 net rating
-------------------------
Trent.....
starter(9 games reg season)
31.2 mpg
35.2 fg%
28.3 3pt%
49.7 ts%
-9.5 net rating
off the bench
24.8 mpg
44.3 fg%
43.7 3pt%
60.7 ts%
+3.8 net rating
like i said. last year was a mess. there was alot to figure out. trents numbers as a starter were just as bad. but im sure he'd do it again a different way looking back but the main takeaway is i think doc knows how we have to play and hes gonna commit to that this year

Horford would be a confusing signing since not immediate need but kinda gives me Kurt Thomas-vibes so I’d be be into it plus that means he wouldn’t be signed by someone else to inexplicably kill us.

Horford feels like a target pre Turner signing, that no longer makes sense now and reporters are just recycling an old rumour.
Still take as a vet min and play him 18-20 mpg. He'd help hopefully keep Giannis's minutes down a bit and be good insurance if Bobby takes the wrong prescription again

Horford would have been a fine Brook replacement but signing him at this point wouldn't make a lick of sense for either party. That has to be an old rumor.
