I know the RFA market is extremely tight, but Tristan seems to fit a valued archetype. I'm sure someone who's more of a numbers guy will be able to make a case that he's poor defensively, doesn't rebound enough, or is otherwise not worth more than a 2-way contract, but he seems to produce whenever the Wizards deign to put him on the court.
if you cant defend and rebound, you can't play in the postseason
The Wizards? Play in the postseason?

Surely, that wasn't what precluded the deal, that he'll be unplayable in 2028 or so.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Lol
Will Dawkins keeps talking about getting guys who can stay on the floor in the playoffs.

Completely this. Same reason he was epoxied to the bench in Europe. And couldn’t earn minutes for the GoGo. The team insists on defensive effort and Vuk simply doesn’t even try at that end. He’s slow footed. Slim. High center of gravity. And doesn’t hustle or even get his arms up. Hasn’t added muscle. So he’s worth a 2-way deal in a tank year as a back up in that finesse big slot. But playing him heavy minutes is a recipe for a loss no matter his seeming effectiveness on offense. Works fine in a losing year.
For the record Tristan's stocks per 36 as a rookie were 2.8. This past season they were 2.4. Zach Edey's were 2.9. If Tristan doesn't try or even get his arms up then how are his stock numbers so close to Edey?
Tristan's on/off numbers have been positive in both seasons. That may be because he plays a lot in garbage time, but it also might be that he is better than he has gotten credit for.
No other Wizards besides Champagnie have a positive on/off.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Guy's so arrogant, but folks can't seem to pick up on it; too arrogant to commit to anything aside from scoring.
Good riddance! Could not be any happier to not have to hear Chris Miller and Drew Gooden reselling this guy's fool's gold.

He'll be back in DC after Eurobasket

I'm not trying to attack you, but...where are you getting this arrogance thing? Do you just not like the guy's face?
I think he does try to play defense, but like many very young players, he just isn't great at it. Hopefully we can add "yet" to the end of that sentence, but I haven't seen any evidence, or heard any reports or rumors, that he's disliked or undermines teammates or does any of the other things with which arrogance is usually associated.

Scoring from the outside and screening techniques a temporary fix for the Wizards is the package of Tristan Vukcevic. G league player development will determine what he could or could not become as a player. Time will answer that.

Potential a good backup center how good will he be is uncertain. Conditioning and strengthening his body and more playing time G-league development plan is the process. What will be the results be is unknown? The management is addressing this by carefully taking time to bring players like Tristan Vukcevic along in a slow development process. Final point the motivation and hard work are by Tristan Vukcevic; will provide the solution.

I feel like Tristan is on the wrong end of a "he doesn't try on defense" narrative. I call it a "narrative" because he's only 21 in his second season, so its hard to say whether his poor defense is a result of not trying or just being inexperienced.
I'm curious to see if he can earn minutes this season, and if he does I'm going to be watching his defense closely. It seems clear the guy has some offensive skills!

Vuk and Cam seem to run into somewhat of the same issue.
While they can be 'chuckers' at times, the truth is they have periods offensively in which the defense seems to have no answers. So, when they only get spot minutes, their role becomes narrowed to doing what they do and know best.
With more minutes, it will become clearer if 1) Their offense output/efficiency can be maintained at scale, and 2) if other parts of their game can come to light as they 'settle' in.

Re: Official Tristan Vukčević Thread
The Wizards can play this game of two-way chicken for one more season if my math is correct. My view is that Tristan is every bit as worthy of receiving a 3-year 2nd round pick contract, typically 3-years $5.95M, the FO must have a strategy though….

He should play a lot -- obviously! The rest will become clear based on his performance.
