Giddey would be nice in theory, but 4-120? For a pass first PG/PF Aussie who can't really shoot (yes he made improvements last year but needs to do it again before it's real)?
I don't think so. S&T Grimes would hard cap them at thr first apron which they would most certainly be over (the other team would have to absorb Grimes and send back a player making <$2.M.

If Grimes takes the QO, then they can't trade him which would cost you a huge benefit of re-signing him to a fair offer.

Sending out an S&T and taking no salary back does not hard cap you.

Of course, you have to find a team with an exception that fits the salary Grimes wants and one he will go to and who is willing to give up a pick or two.

And I don't think they are looking at Grimes as an asset in the sense of trading. Just like they didn't trade Yabusele. They simply want him to help them compete this year.

Doubtful. We have a long-term deal on the table for Grimes now. He's just trying to see if he can find something better. When that is done, he'll sign our offer.

We don't want him to sign the QO, and neither does he.

While Drummond + LAC 1st for Eason works financially, Oubre + LAC 1st might make more sense for both teams because it gives Houston a wing behind Thompson/Durant and opens up minutes for Justin Edwards. We also save a few more $k. We could also waive Drummond later and still have a roster spot plus the TMLE to sign someone we like during the season.

Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
George/Edwards/Council

How about KJ Martin for Drummond and Gordon + 2RP + 3 mil.
KJ would add forward depth and Utah adds a 2RP at a min. Cost.

With the George news, we're stuck with him, but that won't stop me from posting an Embiid trade into existence.

CHI out: Vucevic, Smith
CHI in: Green, Moody, Drummond

GSW out: Kuminga (S&T), Green, Moody, 2027 1st, 2032 1st (top-5 protected)
GSW in: Embiid, Oubre

PHI out: Embiid, Oubre, Drummond
PHI in: Kuminga (S&T), Vucevic, Smith, 2027 GSW 1st, 2032 GSW 1st (top-5 protected)

Followed by waiving RC4...

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Kuminga/Edwards/(George)
Smith/Watford/Walker
Vucevic/Bona/Broome

I'd be fine with that. The question is why GS would put an immediate end to the Curry era as well as their future afterward, because this deal would take care of both in one fell swoop.

I don't think GSW is the right West Coast team to take a desperate swing. A little bit north of the Bay Area however...

But I think return expectations need to be reset. You're just not getting young guy/multiple picks packages for the mopey injured old guy.

I’d be fine trading him to whoever, just not sure what we’d get back from a team like Sacramento. Can’t imagine they’d even do a 1-1 swap for Sabonis.

It will be very underwhelming compared to your trade, no doubt about it.

What about using Dave Silver to our advantage for once?

ATL gets Oubre (into a TPE)
CLE gets Bronny
LAL gets PG and fake 2nd from ATL
PHI gets LeBron, Dean Wade, and 2031 1st round pick swap on CLE

As a contingency of this trade, LeBron is immediately bought out.

Why would LA want PG? They're like the free agent destination

Wishful thinking? This is the fantasy trade thread after all

Most of the reasons would involve BSPN storylines and WWE-like drama. And Silver does enjoy when the league dominates the news cycle. LeBron back to CLE would certainly light up the NBA talking heads.

Why would the Lakers tie themselves into three years of George? They're off of James after this season, along with his son I'm sure since they won't have to pretend to be developing him any more.

Maybe Sacto is dumb/desperate enough to take George instead of Joel?

So Memphis and Atlanta (and OKC :( ) own 2 picks each in the first round of '26... any ideas of what we could trade to get one of them???

Grimes (S&T) + Oubre
For
Jon Isaac and Anthony Black

(Probably requires some stuff to work around BYC, pretend that's in there)

Sixers get a big young defensive PG to mix and match with Maxey/McCain and an elite defensive 4/5 capable of limited minutes/games.

The Magic continue their off-season makeover adding Grimes as a high end 3rd guard with the skill set to mic and match with what they have.

No thanks to Kuminga on that type of salary.

And there's no way the Bulls do that...
