Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George underwent a successful arthroscopic procedure on his left knee Monday to treat an injury suffered during a recent workout, a team official tells ESPN. George will now begin a rehab program and be re-evaluated prior to start of training camp.

Giving aging oft-injured stars max deals was such a brilliant maneuver by Morey.

This may go down as one of the worst FA signings of all time.

High odds we waive / stretch him next year.

No chance he's back for October.

Do we need any more obvious signs it's time to trade Embiid?

It was so clearly a dreadful move to sign George well before it happened, as some of us continuously said on here. It was never going to work anywhere close to the delusional way that some thought (or prayed) it might. I essentially wrote off however many seasons George would be here as lost years, and it only got worse with the Embiid extension.

I've been much more pro-Morey than most on here, but those two moves (whether they were owner originated ideas or his own) at this point are enough to consider his stay here an abject failure in and of themselves. He has essentially tied the Sixers to two max contracts with 3-4 years left for players who can't even get on the court, and will be a shell of what they were if and when they ever do.

It was a dumb idea that really had very little upside. There was a slight chance that everything clicked and they were legit contenders last year, but it was highly unlikely. And Embiid wasn’t even healthy to begin this mess.

If we do get a top 4, I believe that will cancel our debt of a first rounder to Brooklyn. It will push the OKC debt to 2027, and Brooklyn first would become two seconds I believe.

This team needs talent, so not losing two of our next three firsts wouldn’t be ideal.

In fairness to Morey if they didn’t sign PG, the cap space would have just been lost when they signed Maxey. That doesn’t mean it was a good signing, it hasn’t been, but it’s also not as damaging as a lot of people think. If you delete PG and his contract from the Sixers right now, they really aren’t in a noticeably different position. Except for luxury tax, but that’s a Josh Harris problem mainly.

Not even mad. Give the minutes to our young guys. Neither Embiid or George seem interested at all in being a part of this franchise.

Good, keep those old geezers off the court and let’s run & gun baby. Send PG & Embiid to Geneva to enjoy the healing mountain air.

To be honest, I kinda wish we just paid harden. Maybe we win that Knicks series, beat the pacers and then get lucky. Yes, you know he’ll give you some choke jobs, but he also is a good regular season guy and can have a game here and there in the playoffs where he does well.
