Five drafts into Brad's regime, and we've got:

Juhann Begarin
JD Davison
Jordan Walsh
Baylor Scheierman
Anton Watson
Hugo Gonzalez
Amari Williams
Max Shulga

as the entirety of Celtics draft picks over that span.
what if no one on this list is an NBA player in 3 or 4 yrs?

SuperDeluxe wrote:Not impressed by anything I saw today.

Gonzalez had a pretty bad game. I think I'll forget about Shulga's existence in a matter of days. Scheierman had an OK all-around game but his shooting is still erratic. Walsh was completely out of character, I wonder what the heck was going on with him. Charles "Shirley" Bassey had his worst game of the SL so far (but almost posted a double-double).

To my surprise, the offense seemed to flow better when Lofton was on the court.

There are only 2 first round picks there, both late 20s.

I would Say getting Hauser and Getting
QUETTA are good Finds by Brad.

Yup, he only had 8 assists. I was expecting 20 from him. 6-6 from the line. He should have gotten to the line at least 15 times.
I didn't like he was playing defense out there either.

Entertaining game. We had the lead, up by 4 with about 3 minutes to go.

Baylor had a good game. 19 points, 9 assists and 5 steals. That pass sitting down on the floor was awesome. He also made Ware look silly in the 4th quarter with the pump fake from the corner and side step for a 3! He could have got better.

Walsh played well, before getting thrown out.

Bassey had a great 1st quarter but slowed down a little after that.

Hugo had a terrible 1st half but a solid 2nd half. He got fouled a lot to start the game and there was no calls. That threw him off, because the Heat were playing physical to start the game and pushing and reaching and the refs were not calling anything. He was sloppy with the ball and tried to do too much at times. He did have 7 rebounds, 3 offensive rebounds and one of them in the 4th, he went up really high for the offensive rebound, came down and back up for the put back. He finished with 10 and 7, after that bad 1st half.

Lofton played a good 4th.

Could have been more but he traded #25 in 2023 for a bunch of seconds

I'm not expecting any miracles but all these guys except maybe Scheierman would struggle to sniff rotation minutes in this down year, let alone on a contending team. I really don't understand the Hugo pick, maybe he'll be a good player one day but he is a LONGGGG way from being a contributing NBA rotation player. I just don't get why we wouldn't pick someone higher floor, lower ceiling that at least has a punchers chance of being a contributor by the time Tatum comes back.

Shulga and Williams look mediocre too as expected from deep 2nd rounders- he should have just taken the higher end talent at #32

I just want some signs in summer league. On the Heat tonight, we played Kelel Ware, Keshad Johnson, Pelle Larson from last yrs draft. Those 3 guys each had 20. Larsen and Johnson, Brad passed on.

And then I look at Johnny Furphy dunking on guys, Kyle Filipowski throwing up 30-burgers like it's nothing, and a bunch of other interesting guys, Maxime Raynaud, looking really interesting... and I just want a guy to get excited about. I mean, Hugo could be something, so could Jordan but it's very theoretical. Scheierman is shooting under 30% from 3pta against summer league competition.

I am longing for the summer leagues of Kelly Olynyk, Carsen Edwards and Payton Pritchard, when there was some hope and good times, lol ... It's Vegas, baby ... gimme something

Exactly. Hugo at 28 is the highest pick. The number of guys that stick in the league picked that late is smaller than you’d think.

Sure this is a true statement. If you look at the numbers, most guys picked that low won't become anything. But the numbers should kick in eventually.

And also, frankly, we just got our asses kicked by the Knicks: Josh Hart (picked #30), Jalen Brunson (33), Mitchell Robinson (36), Miles McBride (36)

So maybe statistically nobody should be getting yield out of picks in the 30s, but it sometimes seems like the team we're playin is

... lol, maybe i'm just grumpy

But only Robinson and McBride were drafted by the Knicks.

The others were via trade or free-agency.

So it's not like the Knicks are very good drafting players in the 2nd rnd.

You don't really think that the Knicks drafted Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson, do you?

They were both drafted by other teams..developed by other teams and then the Knicks traded for them. Like we did with KP, Jrue, Al and D-white.

Everyone in the knicks starting lineup are guys they traded for, after those players were drafted and developed by other teams.

Here's how many of each team's starters they drafted: Knicks 0, Celtics 2 (Tatum and Brown).
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Yeah those were a couple of good picks but we drafted Time Lord a few spots ahead of Robinson. I'd say both teams won there, given how late those picks were. Knicks took McBride at 36..that same draft we snagged Hauser so we got the better value, getting Hauser as an UDFA.

The year before that (2020), Knicks drafted Obi Toppin at 8 (poor value) and Leandro Balmaro at pick 23 (bust) while we got Nesmith at 14 (later flipped him for Brogdon, flipped him for Jrue) and Pritchard at 26..so we clearly had the better draft there.

Plus we drafted Tatum and Brown, both with the 3rd pick. The Knicks drafted RJ Barrett with the 3rd pick. We also drafted Smart. And Grant and Rozier..while the knicks drafted Frank Ntilikina..
