As others have mentioned, the Horford rumor is likely just a rehashing of previous interest pre-Turner trade. If for some reason he doesn't end up in GS, ATL seems like the obvious option. That team was already annoying to play against.

If Doc can limit him to 18-22 minutes as a backup PF when Giannis is off the floor/resting, he won’t actively hurt the team imo. He and Giannis can never play together though.
I struggle to see where 18-22 minutes for Kuzma at PF comes from given Giannis & Bobby eating up minutes at PF.
Giannis is probably a lock for at least 30 minutes split someway between PF & C.
Turner is probably a lock for at least 28 minutes, possibly more, with likely all coming at C.
Bobby is probably a lock for at least 24 minutes, possibly more, with nearly all coming at PF.
96 frontcourt minutes - 82 from those 3 = 14 available minutes (at most) of which I’m sure Jericho Sims should get some at C. Personally, I’d rather see Sims get the bulk of the minutes (over Kuzma) whenever Giannis is resting because of Sims overall defense and pick ‘n roll + lob threat capability.
While I agree that Kuzma’s best fit is at PF he’s going to get the vast bulk of his minutes somewhat out-of-position on this team via the SF spot.
There’s going to be a lot of load management with Giannis and Turner. I’d bet neither plays 70 games, even if completely healthy. Those games, Kuz could see 20-30 easily. But yeah, if everyone is playing, I think more like 15 minutes sounds right. Maybe he plays “some” 3 in spurts depending on matchups.
Please reconsider your animal consumption.

Great shooters? Yes. But no one who can break down a defense at all. I’m not saying the Cole Anthony is great shakes by any stretch, but he’s put up 16/5/6 in the NBA. He can probably give us 80% of what Malik Monk could at the cost of an only a roster spot. He also prevents you from being one injury away from 48 minutes of Ryan Rollins as your only back court “ball handler” (if we can even call Rollins that).
I just don’t get the incessant bitching by a few dudes about a minimum contract young guy who fits a glaring need. I get it. His dad played with Doc 3 decades ago yadda yadda fart sound.
If he sucks, it won’t be shocking. He’s a minimum contract guy signed to be like an 11th man on the roster. Most of those guys suck around the league.
Funny part is when posters say move the needle huh a vet minimum guy move the fu..needle.Hope cole comes in here n gets his swag back but to everyone complaining bout a vet min fuy moving the needle n complaining wait till we see what horst does with kuzma n ? to see if thst trade moves the needle for you all

I’m coming around on the idea of Kuminga, but the furthest I’d go is Kuzma and a 31 swap. No Green and no outright 31st.
If Trey Murphy is actually on the table then the 31 1st and a 32nd swap is a no brainer.

Kings still make the most sense for Kuzma.
Valanciunus deal going down (officially as of yesterday) could have been a hold up.
Cole Anthony probably means we won’t end up with Malik Monk or Devin Carter.
DeRozan would be a rough fit here but in theory the Bucks could be incentivized to take him on (also while dropping Kuzma).
Keon Ellis is listed at 6’4 which is the same size as about half our team. But maybe we’d see his defense making it easier to play GTJ / AJ Green at the 3?
Kings are so light on defenders though a multi-team trade is probably more likely.

I'm not sure he's ever been on the table. Kind of impressed with how quickly his name spread like wildfire throughout Bucks fandom as a trade option when there was little to no speculation or rumors about Bucks having interest or the Pelicans even shopping him. Add him to the list of board darlings.

I don’t think he’s on the table, but the Pelicans are so dumb you never know what the hell they are doing. Dumpster fire team.

Zach Lowe pod made me less into Kuminga.
Emphasis point was he doesn’t play defense like he should, can’t shoot, and is a natural PF.
However it just seems in character for Horst to shock the league with a high profile pull like this.
Kuminga would be a better version of Kuzma but 7 years younger, and the deal would include dumping Kuz.
The theory would be Kuminga would try harder on defense after being happier with his role and maturing in general (he’s only 22). Even if Kuminga wouldn’t work out he’d be tradeable (barring serious injury problems) at a baseline too.
All that said Horst being willing to take the swing certainly wouldn’t mean it’d necessarily be the right move!

Always read your posts in the voice of Barry Weiss (compliment). And this one was a gem. 100% accurate. So many times on this board we talk about players and coaches in a vacuum. But they are real people who see each other every day. And normal human reactions and politics abound aplenty.
I’m still not necessarily opposed to the signing because we’re so damn desperate at PG. But yes, I’m sure Doc and Greg Anthony are text/golf buddies. Even Brawl Brothers from their days on the Knicks. Watch that clip. Anthony comes off the bench in street clothes to punch KJ to defend Doc’s honor.![]()
If anthonys issues are fit and confidence at this level after a storied high school and college career.....than as a young high upside developmental guard his fathers relationship with doc will be worth its weight in gold and trimmed out in rubies and diamonds.
I for one am extremely excited to get a young explosive high pedigree guard on this roster. Hes a chucker because he was once the highest rated pg in the nation and an all acc selection as a freshman and a lotto pick....all for his "chucking". We dont have any chuckers that can occasionally look good. Maybe he ends up being prime brandon jennings 2.0 but even that would help a bit with this current cast coming off the bench with a great head on him. This thing is all gonna be confidence for him moving forwrd imo.
How this board can twist his dads relationship with Doc into somehow a bad thing here I just smh. Its probably why we targeted the young man and Im all for it. This entire year is going to be about development. The idea we need to put the ball in KPJ, Rollins hands to take our lumps but somehow at the same developmental stage we mock Anthony is insanity to me
I would be concerned about nepotism if Anthony didn't have legitimate merit as an explosive young veteran guard with a high skill level who by all accounts is a terrific teammate / locker-room guy. If you want to find another Bobby Portis, this is exactly the kind of guy you should be targeting.

I would've gone with "wildly optimistic".

Kuminga would be as much an asset play as he would an on-court upgrade IMO (of course pretty much anybody with a pulse could theoretically be an "upgrade" from Playoff Kuz). I'd agree with the notion that he's a bit of a wonky fit right now due to current personnel and coaching, but as soon as people accept that we're not gonna be legit upper-tier contenders this season, the sooner we can start building this roster with a post-Doc future in mind. I think touching the 2031 1st or 2032 pick swap would be my red line though, and if the rumors are true that Golden State stubbornly rejected a Monk/Devin Carter package, then no thanks. They can sit on him and continue to let Kuminga hold their other offseason moves hostage.

Agreed on Kumza to the Kings and the need for it to be a 3-way. Call it Kuzma to the Kings, Monk and AJax to the Raps, and Barrett to the Bucks with little to no draft compensation being exchanged.
Bucks fill their need at SF with a secondary scorer/ballhandler coming off career-high scoring, assist and rebound rates, who's still only 25. Raps balance out their roster while saving $6M this year and $10M next. Kings also balance out their roster, adding much needed size alongside Sabonis and Keegan.

We're upper-tier contenders w/ no Doc & if KPJ really hits. Definitely are if we really hit on our Kuzma/2 projected top 10 1sts move at the deadline.

Teams don't generally give up on explosive guards with a high skill level. No one wanted him. His situation isn't analagous to BP, but there are good players who fall thru the cracks.
He isn't highly skilled. He is an offenisve player who is inefficient and can't play good defense and is very short.
Taking a flyer on a midget guard isn't the worst thing to do, but I want a more switchable player.
And I want to Doc proof this roster as much as possible. There are only two current guys I wouldn't want to see in a rotation. I'm fine with everyone else.

Where did the pelicans publicly state that? All I see are articles from sportstalkATL quoting “rival execs” on what a potential package could look like.
