Re: Welcome Paul George!
His All-NBA days were done, but I thought we were going to get a year of All-Star PG and another year of above-average PG. Plus a year of league-average starter PG. And a year of ugh.
Instead, we may get four years of ugh. We'll see.
Remember that the contract he got really only hurts the owner's bottom line. Maxey's contract ate up all the cap space anyway, so it wasn't like we could've saved that space to sign another significant free agent.

Kirk over 400M made. In the NFL. As a mediocre QB. GOAT bag getter for all 4 sports methinks.
PG is right there, though.

At the time, it certainly seemed like a reasonable risk. And absolutely fit with Morey's MO. However, it blew up in his face and Daryl should be held accountable for that because there were certainly red flags as well.

Re: Welcome Paul George!
I mean we signed a guy who missed more games than Embiid minus his contract year (which led him to getting paid by us). You get what you paid for.
Why this franchise is cursed with so many injured players I don’t know. noel Okafor embiid simmons Fultz McCain VJ George. Oh my

Kirk is the GOAT. Lets not forget that he's shopping at Kohls so his money is going a LONG way too. P is good but he has a ways to go before he's truly Perk Cousins.
Shoutout to Bobby Bonilla.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Has this guy ever been seen as a championship type player that great teams would lust after? He's always seemed to me to be just a much better version of Tobias, a guy who will put up numbers and make all-star teams, but will come up small in the biggest spots.
PG’s playoff history is mix but he took the Heatles to 7 games in the ECF and led a Kawhi-less Clippers team to the WCF before losing in 6 to Phoenix. I think he’s a bit of a Rorschach test of a player - never as bad as his haters say but also never as good as his believers claim.

You guys would take him without any picks attached? Because Sixers can't do that.
The offer pretty much has to include Miles. Add Grant and Okogie and that gets the salaries close enough.
I mean, sure? Even though I don't love it.

just waived Okogie, would have to be Miles, Green and Connaughton.
But no, i doubt Charlotte would consider it without picks.

Re: Welcome Paul George!
I was heavily in favor of giving up the 3rd pick just to get rid of him.
The oppurtunity to correct the mistake of signing him fell right into Morey's lap, I won't fault him for not offloading PG by using the VJ pick because he's the GM and ultimatley he'll be fired or resign... but what I can't tolerate are the fans who will complain throughout the length of his contract because they wanted to keep the 3rd pick so badly. This franchise ate the full length of Tobias contract, so they apparently have the stomach to eat George's contract as well. It is what it is

Podcast P baby!
Because Pro Athletes don't get enough money, attention, fame, fortune, and ahem attention - did I mention attention? - from their, you know, Day Jobs. The Day Jobs that pay them hundreds of millions of dollars to work like 1/2 of the year at best...
Podcast P baby.
And it's funny, when I was a kid, my Dad preached going to school, studying hard, working hard, getting a good job, and being a good hardworking person. I don't have kids of my own but if I did, I'd be all like, F that son! Work on your jump shot & football skills. They're paying CBs & WRs $30mil/yr these days and what did Benedict Simmons get, $170 Million NOT TO PLAY lol...
now Podcast P ain't feeling it.

You would rather cheer for the owners not paying any tax, instead of rooting for VJ? Offloading PG does not result in any major flexibility going forward.

Let's go ahead and archive this comment. We'll check back on it three years from now when George's contract is expired and VJ Edgecombe is one of the best young guards in the game.

Cousin bet on himself multiple times in one year deals. Than 3 year guarantee deal which was unheard of in nfl contract history.
Imagine nba players doing annual deal. Only guys doing is KD and LeBron did 1 plus 1 deals a lot. But the rest of the nba players take the max 4-5 year deals.

His probably return is around November.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Eh, he played 90% of games the year before we signed him, 70% the year before. That's 80% of games as a pretty big and most recent sample.
He's a health gamble for sure, but it wasn't crazy to sign him, and we aren't losers or idiots because so far we've lost the bet. Gambles are gambles, aint gonna wing em all.
(We are kinda losers for continuing to bank everything on old stars, I'd argue. Kinda.)
