Of course NBA cleared him, they don’t want that kind of bad pr
Yeah just like Tim Donaghy. Even if he gets charged his lawyers will say he’s innocent and do everything possible to make sure his contract can’t be voided. By the time any of this is resolved Rozier will have collected his 24.9 million.

The man is literally being federally investigated for affecting games he plays in….
How should a team have to pay that player millions? Or be confident doing so?
Worst trade in our franchises history by FAR.
Wow. Everything you just said I agree. Unbelievable.
OP for NBA FT record

It is strange that neither Terry or Malik have been placed in the commissioner list at the minimum.

FAFO to Silver, letting gambling spiral out of control creates a league full of players who are just fine sitting on the bench, cashing massive checks, and chasing shady side hustles.
Get Terry Rozier off my team.

Re: 2025 Offseason Thread Vol.5
The projected salary cap of 2026 is 165 million and we woild have about 131 million in contracts by that time.
And this is assuming we offer Jovic’s qo which is about 6.5 million.
And also assuming we dont trade Wiggins for expirings by the upcoming feb deadline.. we offload wiggins and that’s 31 million more to work with..

Re: 2025 Offseason Thread Vol.5
Wiggins gonna opt out and get a nice MLE deal where he wants to be if he’s here. If D Rob of all people opted out and got a better deal. Wiggs will find a place to call home no problem. I’d be surprised if we don’t make a move at the deadline someone is gonna shake free and become sellers. At worse we’ll send Terry to a tax team that needs that savings and net a 2nd.

I don't think Barry is right about next season. Obviously the team can just renounce all those cap holds and have plenty of cap space, right?

Re: 2025 Offseason Thread Vol.5
I did that maths recently and arrived at a similar thing cap wise.
We need to:
1. move Wiggins for expirings
Either:
2a. Trade Herro for expirings.
2b. Trade Davion for expirings, not take JJJ's team option and not offer Jovic a qualifying offer.
Note: I do think I was looking at 25-26 cap, not 26-27 cap which is 11 mill more. Maybe Davion can stay. So it is Herro, or JJJ and Jovic. But either way Wiggins gots to go!

Re: 2025 Offseason Thread Vol.5
Does anyone else find the clause in Tyler Herro's contract about him getting an additional $1 mill bonus if he is DPOY to be hilarious?
Like either Miami proposed it as an incentive, or, more likely, Herro's camp asked for it. Either way, that conversation must have been awkward and hilarious for the side that was receiving the request.

Andy has been doing this for years as a mechanism to manipulate the salary cap. Those obscure, unlikely to hit bonuses lower the player’s cap hits and dont count against the teams total salary. Sometimes its the difference between being able to add one more guy in FA or not.

I would love to see the Lakers get f'd over with Doncic leaving, but I just don't see that happening. There is basically no better franchise in the NBA and no better city to live in (in terms of off-court opportunities). Miami is probably the only team with (potentially) cap space that could compete with what LA could offer (better team, less off-court opps). How much does the off-court stuff matter to Doncic?

Wiggins has a PO for $30M. I'd be surprised if he opted out, but it depends on which teams have cap space. I don't see non-playoff teams having any interest (Utah, Brooklyn...etc). Not sure how many playoff teams are in line to have cap space.

Wiggins is absolutely opting out of that. He'll be 31 years old looking for at least one more multi-year deal with a lot of teams having cap space next season as well.
