Phase 2 for OKC, their cheap and high value players are starting to move to the more expensive contracts which will make it more difficult to keep all their depth although they have a lot of draft assets to try to draft or trade for the cheap complementary players to keep putting around them.

Boston already actively looking to move simons. They might need to add a pick to get off him...oof

Lakers trying to get Wiggins again

Reaves Wiggins Luka LeBron ayton. If ayton is focused could be a good lineup.

Shai, Chet, now Jalen. That's almost $1B, in 3 contracts, over 5 seasons, if all 3 make an all-nba team (seems likely). I think it's time to go after the second wave of players they're unlikely to extend (wallace, for now).

It's been a week, and still no signing. The Clippers only have $5.354M remaining of their NTMLE that they can offer Beal, which happens to be close to the space they currently have remaining below the 1st apron (they are hard capped at it).

I get that the Clippers appear to be Beal's preferred destination, so either that amount is suitable, or it isn't. Are the Clippers in a position where they need to wait on that offer due to some cap holds or some other cap positioning?

I don’t think he’s officially been bought out yet

Ah. A lot of the reports made it sound like the buyout had already taken place. My bad.

Last I heard was that Beal has some lump sum payment due soon so the speculation was that the buyout will occur after that payment.

Dont remember the date, but think its sometime this week.

Yeah, it's today, 7/15. He gets 25% of this year's salary in a lump sum, about 13.4M, which avoids including it in the mandatory stretching of his full contract.

So, Beal will end up getting the full amount of his contract owed this season and next after the stretch waive? I don't remember this happening before like this, but I very well may have missed it.

It's not related to stretching the cap hit. Stretching the cap hit is optional for the team, to stretch or not. But any player waived who is owed more than $500,000 has their remaining salary stretched--the same formula as the cap stretch, twice the number of years remaining plus one. So Beal will have his remaining salary paid over 5 years. That's why he waited to get bought out until he collected the 25% lump sum his contract called for.
