his defensive instincts are elite. Knows where the ball is going before it's there. Combine that with great laterals and hands, not a surprise why he's the best defensive player in the draft

He lunges or jumps a bit too much on close outs and will get exposed doing that too much by calm and collected nba vets but ya, he's got all the instincts and the rest of the other guys rotating after will be important

You can already tell his hands are elite, but I'm equally impressed with his instincts/reads and team defense. Sheeeesh.

Brother - I'm basing it off the opinion of professional scouts and draft analysts who have been calling CMB, the next Draymond Green, and many of whom labelled him as the best defensive prospect in this stacked draft class.
Even if you want to disregard their opinions, just look at their numbers in college. CMB had better defensive metrics across the board than OG.
Lol you're gonna disregard years of OG playing all-NBA level defense in the NBA in favor of CMB's college stats and draft comps?
I meant to say that he was a better defender coming out of college (i.e a better prospect). Obviously I can’t say he’s a better NBA player yet when he hasn’t even played a game.

We’re going to get back that juice we lost after Precious/Boucher peaked for us years ago with CMB/Mogbo. Probably won’t replicate that flukey shooting they had that year though.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

I only watched the 1st half of game 3. I'm assuming CMB had a great 2nd half because he was barely involved in the 1st

He still looks hurt and rusty to me. He’s clearly playing in a safe way to not hurt himself again.
Despite being in a limited form, he’s still able to provide incredible back line defence similar to Draymond. It’s hilarious how much plays he’s able to break up due to his quick hands and spatial awareness.
I think him and Scottie walk into the season as one of the better switch defence tandems in the entire league. I think we’ll see a more aggressive CMB on offence when he gets his body right.

I noticed he sort of looks like he walks with a slight limp. But so does Scottie perpetually

It's certainly encouraging. I'm very interested to see what he looks like against proper NBA teams now.

I liked 2 of the assists a lot.
In the first one he got the ball on the left baseline and took a power dribble to the dunker's spot. He made a quick pump-fake and rather than trying to power his way up for a shot (or pump-fake all day) he hit Ja'Kobe for an open 3 after the corner defender came to help, turning his back to Walter.
The second came off a fake-DHO side-out-of-bounds play. What stood out was his patience waiting for Ja'Kobe to set his man up and then his ability to finesse a pass over his defender to get Ja'Kobe an open layup.
He's got that fast processing speed people like to talk about these days.

He said hamstring, but team said adductor. They are next to each other so makes sense he could be mistaken. If he had a hamstring issue that caused a limp he shouldn't be playing at all, but I don't know how adductors work and how they get aggravated.

Sometimes a guy is just a good basketball player, and that's what CMB is.
Hes a menace defensively, and despite his limited shooting, he has his strengths offensively.
I liked what I saw with his jumper last night. Its actually decent looking, once he cleans up his form, and gets his reps in, the jumper will come along.
Kid is an absolute baller. I have genuinely never been this excited for a rookie since Chris Bosh.

Agree .
Even if he is in limited form he is still able to contribute
I think this is key
So many players can become useless when they are not 100% or when shots aren’t falling but a player like CMB can still help the teams in so many ways even when playing safe or being a bit rusty.
Hopefully he will be fully healthy when training camp start and will be able to unleash his full game

I see him starting the season as like a 9th or 10th guy and then slowly becoming our 1st or 2nd guy off the bench near the end of the season.
He's got that Lowry type impact that will be hard to ignore.

Similar to what Sam Vecenie said when discussing about the fit with Toronto prior to the draft.
When people said we have Mogbo hence redundancy his response that while Mogbo is a good player that CMB is just a vastly superior basketball player .

Re: With the 9th Pick, the Raptors select Collin Murray-Boyles!
It's refreshing to have a young 'big' that actually plays big and physical. Very old-school in that respect, but CMB does have the passing ability/ball skills to fit a modern game too. We've seen him be that playmaking hub at SC and we've barely seen any of that so far as he's been more of a play finisher. Which isn't surprising, as you'd want to keep things simple for young players, but I mention it because there's facets of his game that haven't been utilized yet and those are part of what makes him a unique prospect. Just scratching the surface here.
And as he matures and optimizes his body even further, I don't think there's many players that will stop him from getting where he wants to go, which will mitigate the jumpshot a bit.
But the defense is indeed special and everything it was touted to be coming into the draft. The Detonator.
