I feel like we've done this multiple times this year.

But those deals were very minor ones, one of the players it's still unclear if he helps us, & the other had off the court issues suppressing value.

It's fair to ask why he can't make a significant deal at the time where we make out well. We're always the ones getting fleeced - Crowder for 5 2nds, DiVo for Ibaka's corpse, Kuzma for Middleton/AJJ/1st pick swap, 4 1sts + good players for Jrue, Jrue & 3 1sts for Dame, etc.

Dame for Jrue and 1 2029 unprotected pick, 2028 and 2030 are swaps. This was considered a pretty good deal for us at the time and without foresight everyone in the league makes that trade 10/10 times.

If you think i meant Giannis level, i did not. I mean a proven player with few warts. Someone who could start on a multitude of contending teams. Last year, Butler became available. This off-season, KD and Bane were moved. Previously, the Knicks traded for a few of them. and the Pacers were able to grab Siakam.

No idea who will be next on the block but i want us to be ready when it comes.

I think this is probably the way at this point.

Some team will disappoint and want to sell. Some player will have a conflict with the coach/org and need to be moved. Some big deal will go down where a third team will be needed to facilitate a player who doesn’t fit with one of the teams.

Unless we get a great deal now, might as well keep the powder dry.

Additionally, we currently all think we need a wing. But maybe KPJ disappoints as a lead guard but plays great as an off ball wing and what we really need is a PG. Who knows? Lots of what ifs on the roster currently. Would be nice to get a better view of need once the real bullets start flying.

Finally, if (God forbid) we sustain a big injury, I don’t want to have taken on 4 years of big Kuminga money at this point.

This is exactly it. Someone will be available.

Marques Johnson's latest pod talked up how good Chris Livingston's looked -- but I was still expecting him to get a 2-way.

Do the Bucks waive Ajax to open up a spot for Thanasis next, or something else?

We definitely needed a 5th power forward.

Feels like the first semi-solid precursor to a Kuzma+ trade.

Kid is a worker and it shows; I have no issue keeping him around and seeing whether it's going to pay off.

If Livingston is only a favor to Rich Paul that could end up worth it.

Horst has been doing that for years. Think the relationship started with Bledsoe.

But it's been a while since we've had a payoff.

I wonder if Phx and Mil do a lateral move trade of Kuz for Brooks. Phx need a 4 and Kuzma deals actually save them a little money. Brooks is not the ideal fit but he is an actual small forward that works hard on defense and can shoot some. Plus, his deal is also descending just like Kuzma does. It's not a great deal either way but it helps roster construction while not restricting either team going forward.

I'm cool with it. Livingston has produced at every level he's been given a chance at and is still young enough to keep developing. He hasn't had a real shot in the NBA yet so I'm hoping that comes this season

Its kind of weird. They guaranteed some more money to push back the guarantee date so they were definitely waiting to see if they can throw him in the trade, but they didn't guarantee him right away so I guess they are more than open to waive him? But that may just have been if we got Beal or some other vet.

I mean, has it ever "paid off"?

I can't believe I made it through the whole vid yesterday. But it was so damn crazy I couldn't close it.

long story, they tracked down random twitter guy who had a post about this months prior to it coming out. Dug deeper, found that guy connected to a deli owner in NYC, that deli owner was involved in the Porter gambling scandal and is in the investigation. The initial random tweet was about the same time as the Porter news broke. So he's seemingly in the know and Beas was in on it somehow

A weird thing is the one game that's been mentioned with odd betting was a Beasley under on rebounds. But in that game he tried seemingly extra hard at rebounding and got 6-7 boards, thus the bet lost. They also dug deep on Beas garbage time numbers vs spreads and found he's always a good garbage time stats guy regardless if the spread is close or not.

Also gave backstory on Beas's gun charge in MN. Stemmed from his house mistakenly being put on a parade of homes. Also, in the evidence found that he had firm budget to not spend more than like $2500/wk on weed. Got divorced because he got caught banging Pippens ex wife. And turns out Beasley parents and grandpa have been generally successful actors. So its not like he comes from a super difficult/poor upbringing.

Someone help me contextualize what $2,500 a week of weed gets you. Is that like, non stop smoking 24-7? For multiple people?

Well in good news this is the worst signing of the off season. Why not just sign him on a non guaranteed deal and that guarantees in January?
