What fans? Pelicans gate receipts are among the dregs of the league. It's a football town.

toMAYto toMAHto. Contract the Pelicans and make a new Seattle franchise.

This is so dismissive. If Pelicans will build a winning culture and team more people in NOLA will support.

This keeps feeling like Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown. There’s always a reason to kick the can down the road. I feel for Seattle fans. The Sonics should have never left, and waiting so long for a return is awful.

Absolutely not. Seattle doesn't want another city's franchise. It's either a NEW team or none at all and we're fine with that.

The voice for all Seattleites has spoken!

Now that we're settled, we can get back to actually talking about meaningful expansion discussions. You can either stay or see yourself out.

That won't happen as long as Gayle Benson is alive. She is 78 years old.

So a 78 year-old with a New Orleans diet...could happen before 2030.

Not saying I wish for her death. But 78's not young.

Is the current TV deal setup to give any extra money if they expand domestically?

Feels like Silver keeps pushing expansion further away.

Vancouver has always wanted an NBA team. It would be interesting to see what an NBA team looked like there, that played NBA basketball and was an NBA team.

One of the main reasons behind the expansion fee is to cover any loss of media revenue from dilution.

This is pure greed. The owners want more $. Its not about losing $.

Move a New Orleans to Seattle. Add an expansion team to Vancouver and the league can keep Vegas open as a relocation threat for teams needing new arenas.

You want to move a team from New Orleans, the only team in the gulf south, for what reason exactly? There are many teams often with worst fan support than the Pels. Imagine if they were ever good.

This is the home of the perennially voted best college football and baseball fans, and always considered near the top of NFL fans. Remember the Saints went something like 40 years before winning a playoff game if you can believe that.

The NBA, NBA media and its fans are so odd. So much more than the other sports, it’s all about their big city teams, and they absolutely like to drive into the ground all of the others.

Once since coming to NO did we not have a total flake as our best player, and that was Chris Paul. And George Shinn as our adopted owner, along with terrible injuries, caused him to validly so ask out. But Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, Anthony Davis, and now Zion. These are total tool bags. Give this city a team to cheer for and a player to stand behind, and they will more than any other team in this league.

Considering sports stations, larger markets and large market fans think they are owed all of the star players and small market teams should accept it, they should cut the league down to 20 teams, if not 10 teams.

After seeing Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Deron Williams, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Chris Paul, Stephon Marbury... that doesn't even include non-midwest guys like Shaq, Dwight, Vince who hated their market....

Point is, there is no longer a point in being a fan of a small market team as they're mistreated by the league, mistreated by sports hosts, mistreated by fans etc. Unless the league has equal revenue sharing for small market teams to go into the luxury cap, then the NBA will forever be unfairly operated.

When you start seeing sports hosts and fans saying Pacers should trade one of their all-time greats for 2 years of Kevin Love, I see no point in watching the NBA if people think that's in any way fair or accurate judgement of a trade that should occur. Same way they all put Lavar Ball on tv and claim it's what we want. Tons of NBA fans have been brainwashed into thinking the NBA is doing a good job in running itself. It's doing a good job in running itself off a cliff. Other than Chicago and maybe Detroit... Indiana, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Denver, Utah, New Orleans, Memphis should all be retracted since large markets piss all over them and steal their talent because the league is set up to allow it. If large markets want these teams to stick around, how about they split the revenue with them equally and implement some type of tag of one player per roster. Wouldn't want that, gotta rob the Midwest of Lebron, Melo, Durant, Deron, CP3, Garnett, Ray, Marbury etc. Gordon Hayward may go to Boston, Paul George will be gone and Anthony Davis along with DeMarcus Cousins will both be pilfered.

Congrats to California, New York, Chicago, Texas and Florida for owning the league, good job. Now give money to the teams you're stealing from to stack the deck. Pay for all the Midwest teams expenses so those teams can quit robbing their taxpayers to fix up the arenas we aren't even going to. That, or retract them altogether, because most of us Midwest fans now loathe the NBA until they decide to once again become a legit league instead of scripting it like the WWF. You think Donaghy was only one rigging games? The NBA execs and refs rate other refs in the league, but they still couldn't tell Lakers/Blazers, Lakers/Kings, Mavs/Heat 06, Pacers/Heat all 3 series in 2010's, Cavs/Warriors 16 etc. were all rigged? So very blatantly rigged.

It's shocking that people are talking about expansion when half the current fan bases in the league no longer trust the NBA nor do they care if their favorite team is relocated. Let them relocate to another city where they can be taken advantage of, because we see locally how bad we're getting f'ed up by the corrupt league and sports stations who are as credible as CNN and their fake news.

agreed we should take away teams instead of expanding
All of this small market violin playing will make one forget OKC is the current defending champ...

Can someone, a reporter, etc. put the heat on the NBA to have a scheduled time for the next update?

Having lived in both St. Louis and Kansas City it should easily be Kansas City. Missouri fans, Cardinal fans, St. Louis fans etc are some of the most diehard sports enthusiasts around. They will stay with the team through thick and thin. But St. Louis is a dying city where people and companies are leaving and Kansas City is a growing city that I think would keep players and the team around longer.

Just my 2 cents.
