I watched his film last season. I’m expecting a similar bounce Harden had from 17 ppg to 22 ppg last season. He’s also a much better defender on film than I thought. Passing lanes, chase down blocks. If he can buy into JVG’s system and at least be solid like Harden was last year it will be a huge get. CP3 is next

Kind of. Kind of cooked too but at $5.5M, why not. It's a great add to ANY contending team at $5.5M

Did they buy him out or stretch him? If it’s a buyout I don’t think it helps with the 2nd apron or tax issues.

My understanding is that they'll avoid $175 million in tax penalties this year alone because they're out of the second apron. Someone might want to vet that information though, I'm not an expert on this stuff.

It's a buyout and stretch. Beal gives back just enough money, so the Suns can stretch his contract over five seasons (and thus get out of the aprons). They needed a buyout though because of the Nasir Little waive and stretch they did a year ago, still being on the books. Lot of dead money though. Suns are going to be bad, but maybe fun to watch on occasion.

This roster has so much depth now (and even more if Chris joins), they're gonna have a lot of flexibility to navigate through the season.

They could look to bring back Amir Coffey to add depth for the games Kawhi misses. That being said, they are looking pretty stacked.

lol. It’s a 1+1 deal that still leaves them max space. Given they have already decided to be a 50 win treadmill it’s literally zero risk to the Clippers

I was talking about the Suns in this instance, not the Clippers. Effectively waiving/stretching puts a huge amount of dead money on our books for the next FIVE years. I should have made that more clear than leaving it as relatively ambiguous.

We have close to 100M dead money on the book next season paying players and coaches working for other teams. What a moron

Also didn’t work because the remainder of the minutes were being taken by Nick Richards, Tyus Jones, Royce O Neal, Grayson Allen and Ryan Dunn.

With the clippers those non big 3 mins include from Zubac, Collins, DJJ and co. It’s chalk and cheese

Lost only Powell who wasn't good in the PO.

If you think Powell struggled in the playoffs, take a look at the players they acquired the last time they were in the playoffs.

Lopez was unplayable in postseason last year. Hawks traded away Collins because he stunk in postseason.

Beal is not a serious playoff player too, but guys like him and Collins are depth in the regular season to keep their main and injury prone/old guys healthy while being entertaining to sell tickets, also being competitive and avoid the play-in.

17ppg on 60% TS, 38.6% 3pt ...how is that cooked? If anything, the biggest concern is availability.

Good. Who cares? Everybody knows it within five seconds of the first guy so why make them heroes? They aren't the story.

Every year the Clippers add a player like this and (some) people tend to lose their minds, but in the end they remain the same, old Clippers. I’ve been on this earth for a while and one thing has remained consistent: the Clippers are never that good. I see no difference next season.

I hate to say this but he’s washed. Don’t expect big things

He’s not going to be an All-Star or anything, but this is really the perfect team for him to have a bounce back season.

Why wasn't Phoenix the perfect team?

Man .... the Suns're gonna be .... not good.

Not that Beal staying would've changed it much. Jussayin. Sheesh.

Beal would be better served as the 6th man on the Clippers. Still a great addition/offseason for the Clippers.

I actually thought going to the Bucks would be his best fit but maybe too much pressure to be the best perimeter player on the team...

Congratulations, we both stink. Now what? Though I can imagine this is seen as an achievement given the context of the Clipper history.

Why do Clippers always get players like this? Is it solely because they are in LA? Guys just want to live there?

Not basically, that is exactly what he's actually doing lol just like all the head coaches he's paying to sit on the couch.

He’s fired 3 right?
Yup.

Fired Monty May 2023.

Fird Vogel May 2024.
