I think that is the play actually. Even the MLE or TPMLE - they don't need to use it now
The goal should be to make sure next year, they are still under proper apron levels. So I think you are right, and include Richards as well - maybe increase the value of those 4 players and you can trade for a TPE or expiring contract

Yes, now focus on who do we get for the last two roster spots? I say fill in with ute or just leave them open. Play the vets to increase trade value!

Its funny that KD, Beal and Ayton are now on the Rockets, Clips and Lakers.

Turn the page/burn the page, whatever.

They need to fill at least one more roster spot to get to 14. I imagine it'll be either Brea or a vet minimum, as they have just a tiny bit of room under the tax (though they could also still cut salary obviously)

Getting someone who can dribble would be ideal I think, there are precious few of those guys on this roster

Yossi Gozlan:
The Phoenix Suns will get:

-Under the second apron

-Under the first apron

-Under the luxury tax

-$176 million tax penalty eliminated

-At least $210 million in savings this season

-Trade and spending restrictions unlocked

By waiving and stretching Bradley Beal.

Hate to break it to you but Jalen Green is our future. He is 23 years old and getting better. Plays 80% at SG and 20% at PG for the rockets and his efficiency went up when he played the PG position. He is going to get better and in 4 years will peak. We want him, and we will build with him and booker.

TBH out of those 3, If Ayton can become that 20/10 force and play defense. He just made that team a contender! Clips will be one and done, and rockets will be one and done.

And it was posted earlier that the Suns are not out of the financial woods yet -- they still need to be under the apron I think next year if not two of the next three or something like that. So, unless they trade Richards for nothing or a team takes O'Neale for a TPE - it wouldn't be wise to put yourself back in a precarious financial position. Now PG might be nice - but for the vet minimum what can you get

So like I was saying. Once the follow up trades are made, and they add back matching/ equitable salary via trades and signings, unless they intentionally take back much lower salaried contracts, they'll just end up right back over the apron and possibly the 2nd apron again too if they don't effectively cut significant salary in these follow up moves.

Hindsight being 20/20, a good question will be if it was really worth it to anchor ourselves to nearly 20 million in dead cap just for a temporary solution now when it won't really change our competitive trajectory very much if at all.

On radio, Gambo said they will sign 1 more guard and then that's it, they're done. No trades, nothing. Just 1 guard. He squashed all of Brogdon, Melton, CP3, Westbrook, and Ben Simmons.

Question is, what guard they gonna sign? I can only think of: Gary Payton, Cam Payne, Blanton, and Cory Joseph.

I think GP2 is your best bet. Injury riddled but Warriors winning mentality, defense, toughness.

I like Payton's defense but would probably prefer someone who can steward/generate some offense/shots. He's more or less a center on offense.

I don't love the options left, especially if Paul, Brogdon, Westbrook are off the table.

Banton would certainly be "aligned" with the new priorities (wingspanZ!) I dont hate him tho, not sure if hes actually good but hes fun at least.

I might take a gamble on Jared Butler?

WE NEED A POINT GUARD. Playing Booker or Green as the primary ball handler is a mistake we've already experienced (in Booker) and I have no interest in seeing Green try to run the offense.

It makes sense there won't be any more moves

First, I don't think Allen and O'Neale have much value now unless you add picks. Maybe build up their value

Second, they need to stay below apron levels not just this year but future years so limit your long term guaranteed contracts

Based on your list - it really doesn't matter who the guard is - they will be the veteran minimum

My guess, they will hope that at the deadline, some team might want Allen, Royce, Richards or even Brooks and they trade them for a TPE or less money

I agree with you so that is why - and its seems Gambo is pointing this out per the post from PhxLax - the Suns are basically done.

Ishbia is savinga lot of money this way. He could have made smaller moves to get below the second apron but the lux tax bill still would have been high and future picks at jeopardy.

My prediction was the summer of 2027 at worst with an outside chance at next summer. Like 35% next summer and 65/% in two years

He will play good soldier this year - he just got paid. Said all the right things, through the media of course. He was "in alignment, went to the interviews"

Dude I saw that in the article and just shook my head. Joe **** Dumars.... I guess I shouldn't be surprised since he's got Isaiah Thomas advising him. Maybe it was a psyop to get people ecstatic about Gregory being the GM instead
