Cant watch this right now but will fire it up when I have the time. Pablo is a talented journalist and this topic interest me a lot.
Corruption and tainting the sport was inevitable with mixing gambling and human nature. It won't stop but I would be stoked if they nuked it. They'll try to continue to punish the players with no accountability on their own part. Adam Silver and those that orchestrated this mess are the real criminals here. But the players that fell for it are going to be villianized.
What im trying to say is death to the bourgeoisie!
I agree with you 100%.
This is Adam Silver's mess. He saw dollar signs instead of ensuring that the integrity of the sport remains intact.
I think Porter, Rozier (who per Pablo had NOT been cleared of any wrong doing) and Beasley are morons. Beasley is a bad person in general but Silver rushed the league into this without considering the consequences. This falls at his feet. These dumbasses got caught up.
Also, the fact that players receive death threats from degenerate gamblers isn't lost on me either.
Once you get into bed with gambling organizations, you start sliding down a slippery slope.
See I have a hard time calling these players morons... im soft. Yeah, Beasley is a bad person cause of the other sht he has done. But damn, greed can corrupt a man. And I just feel that Silver, the person with power and the responsibility of protecting the game, allowing this pairing is the main culprit. He sacrificed these players and a lot of fans for money. Terrible person.
To your other point, I cant stand seeing odds all the time or reading/hearing about fans bets. And how shtty the are to players over losing money. Grimy as hell.
I know I sounds like a puritan wanting to keep the game pure, but damn gambling is nasty. It ruins peoples lives.
Maybe I am too harsh. These guys are fairly young and I forget sometimes that I was too.
Porter and Rozier ok. But yeah Beasley is just someone with serious character issues. Gambling is one thing, ripping people off is another. That's bad intent. He made more money than all of us on this forum put together. Pay your damn debts.
I agree with you. Gambling is toxic and addiction is a very real disease. The league should have never partnered with these companies. It's not about purity, it's about integrity and also with so many recovering gambling addicts in this country, the constant bombardment of gambling ads and odds during these games is messed up man.
