https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/45755171/bradley-beal-agrees-buyout-suns-join-clippers

Three-time NBA All-Star Bradley Beal has agreed to a contract buyout with the Phoenix Suns and plans to join the LA Clippers on a two-year, $11 million deal with a player option after he clears waivers, Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports told ESPN on Wednesday.

---

Beal will have a player option for the second season of his deal with the Clippers, so if he has a bounce-back year, he could certainly decline the option and sign a larger deal next summer, which makes this a great scenario for him - per rotoworld

Finally. I assume CP3 will be announced soon.

Ill call that a successful offseason. Heathy Kawhi to start the season, could put us in the top 4 position. We nearly got there w Kawhi missing the first 34 games!

Let’s make it happen.

It’s happening! Successful offseason!

I like—not love—the Beal pickup. But I’ll be honest and say this again—I’m not in favor of a CP3 reunion. He’s too small and, now, slow to spend time at the 2. He’d be our #3 PG and nothing else. Yes, he’s a hall of famer and, yes, he played well last year and played all 82 games. And he’s 40 and, however you want to slice and dice it, he’s playing out the string. Should we go for a lesser player that has less talent but more versatility and could have a future with us? Tbh, given Kawhi's injury history, Coffey would probably help us more.

I have to agree. Although, options who are better fit might be out of budget. Can we get Gary Payton II or Cameron Payne for minimum ? Probably not, but we might able to get someone like Delon Wright or Corey Joseph. Would those guys be more productive than CP3? Anyone's guess.

Am I the only one who still wants to see CP3 on the team?

I just want a competent backup point guard so Harden doesn't have to play so many minutes because the offense falls apart whenever he sits.

If he will agree to come off the bench and play around 15-20 minutes a game, I think he would be valuable for the reasons you mentioned

Im ok with CP3 back on the Clippers too. He’s the type of player that can win you a game when everyone else is cold.

Sure he’s old, as is Brook Lopez, but given they’re both slated to be backups playing 10-15 mins a game, they’ll be more than serviceable. Have CP3 also mentor our young guards (Cam, Sanders).

A CP3 - Batum - Lopez 3-man weave, "old guys at YMCA" vibe could have entertainment value.

Anyone know why we drafted a 22 year old big man and gave him a $14M contract to supposedly back up Zubac, and then went on to bring Brooke Lopez and John Collins ?

Because we ran thru all 3 of Kai Jones, Mo Bamba and Eubanks last season and didn't get good value? Double-big lineups also increasingly en vogue and we only had Kobe Brown as a true PF last season.

Yup. We need a guy not named Zubac to be a rotation center in the near future. Right now, it's low rotation--but as Lopez ages and (hopefully) Yanic develops, we'll have good depth at the 5.

The $14 number is a little misleading. That's for 4 years, and the fourth year is a 75% raise. And there's team options on both year 3 and 4. It's better and more accurate to think of it as a 3 year/$8.5 million contract with a team option on the third year and another team option to keep Yanic at $5.4 million in year 4.

Really hoping Yanic can be developed. I think it would serve him better to be practicing with the main team under an excellent positional center like Zu and Lopez is an old pro too. Also, Harden could deliver the kind of assists he’ll barely see in the d league.
Imagine if Kobe B could actually make some impact as an NBA player?
Kobe S, Flowers & PBJ look promising too.

If Clippers stay healthy this could be a big season

Collins fills a position of need. Lopez is here because Frank can't go five minutes without signing another 40-year-old.

Lopez played well in the regular season last season. He struggled against the Pacers, but that was a particularly bad match up considering how fast they play. He is a solid back up center regardless of age- versatile skillset.

Just read some rumors on hoopshype regarding a LeBron for Kawhi swap. I think the team would be worse as LeBron wouldn’t fit well with Harden and he is a weaker defender than Kawhi

Yeah that would be like circus mode for this team. It'd be fun at times, but end up flopping pretty evidently. Wouldn't be able to guard nearly anyone, and Zubac/Lopez would be in foul trouble more. LeBron is also not close to the overall jumpshooter Kawhi is, and never has been. Not as polished or efficient.

LeBron has become a better shooter over the years- but you're right, Kawhi is better in that regard. Kawhi is basically better at everything now as compared with LeBron except playmaking and passing.
