Minott is on a guaranteed contract right? As is Tillman…I guess we could waive and stretch but seems like they shouldn’t be part of the poll?

They both seem to be fringe players. Just a POLL.

I need a little clarification on the objective. Is it basically a who are your top 7 players from this group exercise?

Yes.
If given the choice between these 10, which 7 would you choose?

Roster: Gonzalez, Walsh, Minott, Bassey
2-ways: Amari, Norris, Shulga

Which means JD is odd man out. Pending other moves.

Thought process in moving Lofton Jr. onto the magnificent 7 has more to do with prototype and "let's see" than where I rank him as a player currently. With Williams around as an emergency 5, similarly perimeter shot challenged as Queta, I want a similar potentially perimeter shot competent emergency center to cover Garza's role. Right now that's 3/4s playing super smallball 5. Lofton Jr would need to show out in preseason and give hope he can be a mid 30% 3pt shooter at least.

Drafting Shulga, along with Simons remaining, gets them basically 4 deep at PG. Davison's athleticism might compel them to hang onto him, but you have enough injury coverage without him really. If they send out Simons and don't return another combo guard, I'd like keeping Davison.

While Bassey didn't make my list, I still hold interest. But, not because he duplicates Queta, but with Williams here also, it's saturated. Especially given the FO is welcoming a volatile outcome season.

Agree on keeping JD if Simons is gone.
I don't really get Lofton, tbh. But I'm down on the small ball centers that aren't switchable. And I don't love his offense enough to compensate. But, I can see the appeal if I squint.
Amari is such a project, I don't mind having Bassey for the next 2 years while Amari's on a 2-way. But, I'm not making moves specifically to sign Bassey.

Feels like Tillman might be physically busted so I’m just lower on him long term even though he’s prob as good as any of them this fall.

Lofton I’d like on one of the designated bonus deals in the G league and see what he does from there.

Then it’s between Norris and Davison and despite the decent archetype on Norris they were pretty lukewarm on him so I’d say give me JD on the roster.

Won’t turn out like that but just the curiosity in me.

Hugo (frp guaranteed money), Minott and Lofton
All the rest can go
Especially Shulga which you can find on any European team like a dime a dozen. Wasted trade and wasted pick

I hear all of you.
Minott though, I don't see as anyone spectacular.

So for Training Camp (of this list), I'd go with Gonzalez, Bassey, Lofton, Williams, Shulga, Norris & Tillman.

I think that Tillman was just hampered all year by that offseason surgery.
I'd give him 'til the end of TC, to prove that he can still be an asset.

Agree
But I don't get what everybody sees in Shulga and why keep him over other players. He isn't special. I think Jay Scrubb is better, even after the injury he suffered.
If Bridges would agree to a two-way (and is still eligible), I would sign him over Shulga

Agreed, Shulga isnt worth keeping, I would take bridges overhim as well.

Team obviously picked based on "need" as oppposed to best availablity.

Brad thought Shulga could be a 3rd PG on the team.

I assume he is believing that one of Hugo, Scheierman or Pritchard will be starting come opening night.

Minott's contract became fully guaranteed on 7/15.

There's basically 0 chance that Bassey and Lofton (who currently are free agents and have no contract with Boston beyond summer league) would be on the training camp roster but Minott would be off it.

There's a reason why those guys you listed are having to play summer league but Minott is not. It's because the team values Minott more. His signing became official on July 9. Our first SL game was July 11. Minott is only 22 yrs old - he's younger than most of the guys on our SL roster. If the Celtics felt like Minott was a summer league caliber player, they would have had him play summer league.

Yeah, I forgot about Bridges since he wasn't listed, but he's probably my favorite of the guys without contracts. I might even try to roster him over Bassey if we can open the spots. Depending on how we open the spots - if it's Niang or Hauser, then definitely. If it's Simons, I keep JD.

Hugo, Minott, Bassey, Walsh, Lofton
Tillman and JD have contracts so that’s 7
Amari hasn’t impressed me but his body and potential are easily worth a 2 way
Shulga looks like a dud of a pick and they should cut bait tomorrow
Keep Norris on a 2 way
Can Lofton be signed to a 2 way?
Bridges and Brown are nice SL roster guys and welcome to play for Maine if they don’t have better offers

I believe Lofton is 2-way eligible, yes
