if the first 5 minutes are a representation of the first 3 quarters then this has been an ugly game.

She just can't stay healthy. Groin injuries are tricky.

At this point, I don't know if Clark is going to miss any time or not, but I'm going to assume so. Kind of spoils the all-star game and events, especially with A'ja Wilson also hurt.. I've heard more speculation questioning the trainers who bulked Clark up.

They kind of made it clear that one of the reasons White sometimes likes to play Clark off the ball is because opposing teams foul her all the way down the court, while the refs swallow their whistles. The officiating in the WNBA is garbage. I tend to think it's not the refs fault as much as the people overseeing them, who want to push the "physicality". But it's garbage.

As for the game, it was kind of ugly, but CC added some spark in the final quarter to give the Fever some separation. Then she got hurt again, unfortunately. Kind of goes with what I've been saying about this year being a sophomore jinx.

obviously she came back too soon and reagrivated the injury. If I’m the Fever I say she will be out for 6 weeks and then take all pressure off an early come back.

Thing is, if I'm not mistaken, she's injured both quads, and both her left and right groin. I still think there's an issue with the way she's been bulked up.

random memory; Chris Bosh bulked up one off season for the Heat and then had a bunch of injuries because of it. I agree that when basketball players put weight on too fast it causes an imbalance and can lead to injury. Bosh was just one example, there have been others that went through the same situation. Best to put weight on gradually.

I was surprised when CC came back when she did. felt it would be just before or after the all star break. Might want to get a new medical team to advise her. It also could be that she pushed for the early return; either way these injuries are an annoyance but not career altering...yet. Have to think long term, before you know it will be the playoffs and all these random regular season games will be completely forgotten. Take the needed time off to heal and then take another 2 weeks.

And dont treat refs like that, even if they suck and the the league has no control over how the game "should" be called. it makes you look just as bad. Now if he said something unbecoming of his profession then i suppose we will hear about it.

Without knowing exactly what happened, I'm going to withhold judgement. That was an odd incident. The ref appeared to say something to Clark that really set her off. Some say the fact that he didn't give her a technical is evidence that he said something he shouldn't have. I don't know. Maybe Clark even misheard what he said, who can say? We don't really know what happened.

Sorry but this is ridiculous. Does Clark have a history of being aggressive with refs ? Of course she does.

Do we know anything this particular ref? I doubt it.

Seems like a special standard here. We didn’t give Rasheed Wallace this leeway and Clark is basically on that level with refs at this point based on the last few years.

That injury didn’t heal with a few weeks so no way is it healed after a few days. Might as well announce you’re not participating.

Apparently CC threatened to call the league office on the ref.

I don't know what was said to her, and I am keeping that in mind, but regardless this looks bad because she's always chirping at the officials ever since college, it's gotten worse in the pros (she nearly got suspended last year) and her making a threat to an official is out of bounds. If Angel did that people wouldn't be making excuses. It's unprofessional. People rightfully give Luka crap for his constant pouting and whining so there will be no pass here.

This is the first instance from CC that gives me the icks. Leave that "I want to speak to your manager" energy off the court.

I'm gonna keep the rest to myself but I just don't like this year's vibes from Indiana and I'll be blunt, my disdain for Sophie Cunningham is a big reason why and I hope she's not being a negative influence on Clark.

That's basically my point. We don't know the details. Why didn't they give Clark a technical? It's not because she gets special favor. Maybe it's because the ref said something he shouldn't have. Otherwise, they should have given Clark a technical.

I think so too.

Also, she clearly needs to sit for a few weeks. I don't care about league ratings. She needs to be healthy and soft tissue injuries are no joke.

Of course everything is speculation without knowing what was said between Clark and the ref, but here's my impression of what happened. I think the initial issue was that after an out of bounds call against the Sun, the ref handed the ball to the Fever to inbound, but then allowed the Sun to call timeout to challenge the call, which is what I think Clark was initially questioning. Her conversation with the ref about the call seemed pretty calm at the beginning. She was listening to what he was saying and nodding along. But then he said something that set her off. Later during the timeout she gestured for him to listen to her or move toward her, and that's when she made the telephone gesture and evidently said she would be calling the league.

If he said something that was really out of line, then I don't really blame her. The facts that she went from 0-100, came at him later, threatened to call the league, and STILL didn't get teed up, make me suspect it was more than just a dispute about a call. Obviously speculation, but my initial reaction is less "Caitlin needs to stop yapping" (which I've thought on many other occasions) and more "What did that dude say to her?"
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Yesterday I was lying; today I'm telling the truth.

Yeah I agree that's why I said I don't know what was said to her.

Now if the ref used inappropriate language or said something vile, absolutely. But if it wasn't that, I have to look at this with an eyebrow raised.

seems like its a grade 1 tear. something you can feel good about in 2 weeks and then tweak again. exactly what we just saw happen. probably best to err on the side of caution and not do that again.

I thought going into it that Lexie had a shot to win the 3 point contest, but it wasn't to be. She started off too cold. I didn't expect her to win really, but I thought she had a shot. Ionescu is insane at hitting those three pointers though, so she wasn't losing.

Have you seen the pics of the Liberty meeting with Clark and her agent in the hallway the other day? It was supposedly about the CBA agreement (or lack thereof), but it's spiked a lot of rumors about Clark going to the Liberty when her contract with Indy is up. I'll just say this: If Caitlin goes to the Liberty, I'm out. No more WNBA for me. I might tune in to the finals to see her win a championship if that happens, but other than that, I would be out. It's not just that I'm in Indiana and a Fever fan (and I don't think they always do right by her). Although that's part of it - it just seems like Clark belongs in the midwest.

Return to WNBA
