this would only work if Houston gave the suns pick back which might be the best asset in the NBA right now

I agree with Brendon Kleen in this statement:

Yes, Bradley Beal was a nice and respectful guy with fans and media in Phoenix

But the Beal era was an absolute failure on all parts that ruined some of the most talented teams in Suns history and really hurt the team's future

Beal often played like he was actively trolling all of us. From tying his shoes during play to laughing along with Steph, it became downright insulting

That plus the injuries, which inhibited him from defending and attacking the basket like he needed to, made his tenure one of the most disappointing I can remember for this team

Booker’s value may be diminished some by his hefty extension… but as others of his caliber get new contracts it will fall in line to the market. He still would/will command a sizable return if tabled for trade.

The spilled milk crowd will have to get get over the initial tipping over of the glass and accept the messy clean up involved. Problem is Wishbia and crew spilled more than one glass. The dude needs a sippy cup.

May be we need a thread that limits excessive woulda-shoulda-coulda chatter and focuses more on what we can do… now. In time I suppose it will come. The trade machine is infectious. At the very least, these moves have reopened that wishful avenue of mindless delight.

Personally I hesitate trying to figure out how to right this ship and look more at what I think the front office will do, given their biases, inexperience and knee jerk tendencies. There are enough of you with ‘plans to improve’ mindset. Nothing wrong with that.

Furthermore.perhaps there are positives to take from this off season…. We got rid of Bud, NoShowJones, KD and Beal. Acquired legit talent and drafted some hopefuls. This is a clean slate… sort of.

Time will tell… but this team as constructed the past few years was azz.

Let us proceed

I read that the '27 draft is supposed to be really bad. With that, maybe if we're to move Booker in the future, we look at Utah to get our '31 pick back, and more back (I'm sure he'd love that :))
Or just worry about a good deal further down the line if things don't work and go from there.

Booker's contract extention is roughly the same % of the cap in 2029/2030 as his current contract is now.

People only look at raw numbers, get shocked and forget that the salary cap goes up as well not just the conteact figures.

Trading Booker for picks and/or young players would have meant a better and deeper reconstruction with the option of having a lot of money available in two years.

Beal would have played SG this year with the same roster plus the assets obtained thanks to Booker's trade. And we would have much less money retained.

Well next year when we go 42-40 you going to complain about it !

The Suns don't have an NBA starter level point guard or power forward. The center is projected out for half the season. There are no assets to acquire anyone for those three positions in the near future without weakening the team, thanks to Booker's new contract. It is impossible to trade him anywhere when he only has star player status at that salary. And there is no second unit that meets the standards. Or is there one at all. There is no superstar on the team that would help win games. The head coach is a rookie. How could they have ended up in such a situation. Certainly the players are developing, but Booker is not the kind of character who leads others forward. He is not Michael Jordan. Closer to rich man's Monta Ellis. It's positive that the owner wants to invest in the team, but when was the last time a game-changing player was found on the free market? If you screw up in every other way, you're screwed and you'll stay screwed.

Does Kerr count as a Sun? He screwed us too so he's on my list as well. I'll refer to Kerrsed on that one

For now:

PG Booker/Gillespie/?
SG Green/Allen/Brea*
SF Dunn/O'Neale/Nigel Hayes/Livers*
PF Brooks/Oso/Fleming
C Williams/Maluach/Richards/Huntley*

*Brea, Livers and Huntley on two-way contracts.

F beal. Dude just posted a peace sign and don’t care about Phoenix or the fans! Then KD put a laughing emoji!

Both those cupcakes were worthless here and took this franchise down

I think this is the team for now. Gambo, and even Flex reiterated (maybe he was just copying Gambo) -- said this will be the team.
Makes sense. They don't want to go above the 1st apron. Maybe the lux tax - -they have 2.1m but why pay it unless you get the right player.

See what happens around the trade deadline and go from there. The key is getting the young players some reps. Maybe Malauch spends a bunch of time in the G League playing - not just watching.

My guess this would be Allen, Royce or Richards The Suns don't have much else to trade unless they include Dunn or Oso. I think I am keeping Dunn over Kuminga Not sure the Warriors accept this trade but they have like 10 players on their roster.

Allen Royce and Oso?

[Windhorst] Before taking the Rockets offer, the Suns had in-depth discussions with the Minnesota Timberwolves about moving Durant for a package that included star center Rudy Gobert, guard Donte DiVincenzo, promising forward Terrence Shannon Jr. and the 17th pick in this year's draft

This sounds much worse than the Rockets offer.

Now Siegel is reporting the Suns and Kuminga but the Warriors don't want Allen (makes sense - they have a few SGs on the roster). Royce and Richards for Kuminga -- Warriors could use depth at Center

So if the Suns make another trade can we officially stamp Gambo as a fraud. Per his own words, Suns are done making trades.

So will this be Booker's 5th season as Sun where the team finishes below 30 wins? I say yes.
