Agreed. It’s odd to treat third team and first team the same. Especially with the games played requirement such that third team isn’t as competitive as it previously was.

The Rose Rule doesn't force any team to give the 30%, it just unlocks that possibility. A team can always offer less than 30% or even 25% to a player who made any of the All-NBA teams, all the way down to the league minimum. The Thunder just did that, twice. It's eminently normal, not odd that both Patrick Beverly and Giannis qualify for 35% max.

I know, still if a player is negotiated down after all NBA 3rd team, it can leave a bad taste, just likenif a team refuses to max a RFA, someone else does and they match it, it can lead to some dissatisfaction.

True, but it's something a team will have to weigh. I think most players are professional and realistic enough to be able to put any personal disappointments aside. So far, J-Dub, Chet, Rudy Gobert, have all been given contracts less than the full supermax, and they were all fine with it. And many more players get less than the regular max, even after winning All-NBA (such as Sabonis or Randle). I think not extending an RFA is a more serious issue because of the risks involved.
