MIL - UTA - CHI: Kessler to CHI, White to MIL

Post#1 » by babyjax13 » Thu Jul 17, 2025 7:38 am

MIL trades: Kyle Kuzma, 2031 MIL 1st (unprotected)
in: Coby White, Jalen Smith, Jevon Carter
The Bucks turn Kuzma into a starting point guard and two rotation players. Smith/Carter could be subbed in for Huerter, instead?
White - Trent - Huerter - Giannis - Turner

UTA trades: Walker Kessler, 2027 LAC 2nd, 2028 DET/CHA/LAC/MIA/NYK 2nd (impossible to interpret which 2nd)
in: Kyle Kuzma (via TPE), 2031 MIL 1st (unprotected)
A 2031 1st from Milwaukee feels like a bit of a gold ticket considering how leveraged they would be after this.
Bad player A - Bad player B - Bailey - Lauri - bad player C

CHI trades: Coby White, Kevin Huerter
in: Walker Kessler (into TPE), 2027 LAC 2nd, 2028 DET/CHA/LAC/MIA/NYK 2nd (impossible to interpret which 2nd)
Chicago generates a large TPE, gets some seconds, and adds a young center. Smith/Carter could be subbed in for Huerter, instead?
Giddey - Dosunmu - Buzelis - Essengue - Kessler

I'm on board although I don't think the Bucks give up an unprotected 1st for White.

Chicago is stealing value here. I don't see Utah doing this and Milwaukee shouldn't give up that first for Coby White.

I think you might have misread that. Kuzma isn't becoming a starting point guard, he's being exchanged for one.

I like Reaves, he's one of the best of his particular archetype—the offensively proficient yet defensive sieve two guards—but it's the worst archetype in basketball and he's due to be overpaid next summer. And while the Lakers have had some bad seasons, they're the one team that stands apart as a free agent draw. Their ability to bounce back is unparalleled and, consequently, their picks are far less valuable (to me) in terms of their future variance than those from a cold weather city in a year when their only superstar in the last 50 years will likely be aging out.

Meh all fair, I guess. Reaves and Lakers FRP is better then King Kuz and 31st, IMO.

Kuz is older atm 30 and Reaves is 27 and better contract?

You guys also have 4, 7 footers; Lauri, Kessler, Kyle and Nurkic...

But rather a trade for Kuz/31st from Bucks? for Kessler?

Guessing Kuz Is replacing Collins?, why wouldn't you want Reaves to replace Sexton instead and role with Reaves/Laurie ... Again i'm drinking lols, i'll look at this tomorrow.

I wouldn't trade Kessler period and a stable full of seven footers might be a nice thing to have at the deadline. I don't think the makeup of the roster will make one bit of difference in Utah this season and I'd rather the Jazz not be the team to grossly overpay Reaves for years to come.

I think the Bulls should just take Kuz and the distant first, but the OP seems more like what they’re looking at. You could picture Kessler/Matas/AJ/Giddey being really really good if the team was willing to tank/got lucky..

I think the only thing I’d do to the OP is let Mil put top 4ish protection on the pick. It can roll over to 2032 with it, but just some protection..

As long as you guys don't trade Kessler to the Celtics I'm happy

What about the same bones but swapping Bulls for LA? Kessler to La, reaves to MIL, Kuz and LAL 31 and MIL 31 to UT?

Maybe it's even n value but I doubt UT is interested.

man you misread the Bulls

Kessler starts over Vucevic and they have 4 centers, Bulls management aren't the fools here
NO way Essengue starts, 18 years old raw rookie, barely looking like NBA 3rd string in summer league
They do have to start Dosunmu because they're trading their 1 and 3 guard scoring options and they take a big step down. Jones becomes first off the bench and then Carter and Terry, TWO steps down
Even if they plan to play Smith at the 4, they end up starting Williams at the SF and Phillips gets more minutes than he's shown he is worth

just plain bad

Bucks Roster is pretty much full - KPJ/Rollins/Anthony are all good PG's - No need to trade an unprotected 1st for white

I don't see how negative value Kuzma can bring in all of this with only a distant future first attached.

Nope the Bulls never care about distant picks. They want to be competitive enough for the play-in now, every year.

Yeah. While I hate that plan, I agree it is their goal.

Don’t think the OP hurts the Bulls play-in chase, just think they’d have to have a follow up deal for Vooch. Theres center desperate teams out there and scoring guards available..

I feel like a Vucevic for Simons follow up could be in order.

Kessler is a long-term solution at center, which Chicago does not have. I think it would be easy to follow up. RE: lineups, sure, they could start Williams instead of Essengue, or otherwise invest into players that have no future with the team. Can Phillips play some 2? Size would be nice for them in the backcourt.
