I think the only thing I’d do to the OP is let Mil put top 4ish protection on the pick. It can roll over to 2032 with it, but just some protection..

Nope the Bulls never care about distant picks. They want to be competitive enough for the play-in now, every year.

Yeah. While I hate that plan, I agree it is their goal.

Don’t think the OP hurts the Bulls play-in chase, just think they’d have to have a follow up deal for Vooch. Theres center desperate teams out there and scoring guards available..

Who would score for Chi without Coby and Vuc?

the scoring guard you get back for Vuc

the easiest option is Vuc for Simons as suggested..

Or you keep Vuc and offer Boston Collins and any one of Carter/Terry/Phillips for Simons and Niang into TPE/MLE?

And Bulls decide whether Kessler or Vuc starts this season, with Kessler being the long term option either way.

Saves Boston between 11-15 mil depending on who the second Bull is. Should make ducking the tax pretty easy in a follow up deal either way.

Kessler is worth even less the closer you get to the deadline. If you dont trade Kessler now, youve basically decided that he's gonna be your C of the future and try to lock him up on a reasonable deal or pray another team doesnt stupidly throw him an insane bag in RFA. Keeping Kessler is a perfectly logical move as he's young and fulfills what you want out of a C, just be ready to fight off other suitors in RFA or be prepared to pay more than expected to keep him.

man you misread the Bulls

Kessler starts over Vucevic and they have 4 centers, Bulls management aren't the fools here
NO way Essengue starts, 18 years old raw rookie, barely looking like NBA 3rd string in summer league
They do have to start Dosunmu because they're trading their 1 and 3 guard scoring options and they take a big step down. Jones becomes first off the bench and then Carter and Terry, TWO steps down
Even if they plan to play Smith at the 4, they end up starting Williams at the SF and Phillips gets more minutes than he's shown he is worth

just plain bad

Kessler is a long-term solution at center, which Chicago does not have. I think it would be easy to follow up. RE: lineups, sure, they could start Williams instead of Essengue, or otherwise invest into players that have no future with the team. Can Phillips play some 2? Size would be nice for them in the backcourt.

Julian Philips? Skills-wise he's closer to a 4/smallball 5 than a 3/2.

What the hell?

Chicago absolutely does this, you keep saying they won't do this or that based on who they have on the roster which is ridiculous.

Other trades can be made afterwards to clear logjams.

Giddey/Jones
Dosunmu/Huerter
Okoro/Essengue/Terry
Buzelis/Williams
Kessler/Collins/Smith
